South L.A., Los Angeles
Vermont Square Bail Bonds
Vermont Square is a South Los Angeles neighborhood home to a historic branch library on Vermont Avenue. When someone from here is arrested, you may not even know which police station to call, because the area sits close to two. Jane Un Bail Bonds is a licensed California bail agent, open 24 hours at (213) 725-2815.
The neighborhood runs between Slauson Avenue and the streets north of it, along Vermont, and covers ZIPs 90037, 90044 and 90062. It has long blocks of homes and small businesses, and a strong church and school community.
This page is honest about what we know and what we do not.

Two stations, one neighborhood
Our records place Vermont Square in LAPD's Southwest Area, with a low level of confidence. The area borders neighborhoods served by the 77th Street Area, such as Vermont Knolls and Chesterfield Square, so your person may have been picked up by officers from either station.
The Southwest station is at 1546 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90062. The 77th Street station is at 7600 S. Broadway, Los Angeles, CA 90003, and its front desk number is 323-786-5077. We could not find a published desk number for Southwest. See our Southwest page and 77th Street page.
The booking record will say which station it was.
If you are not sure which station to call, do not spend an hour on hold. The online locator and the 24 hour information line show the booking, the charge and the bail in one place, and you can call us with what you find.
The usual jail, and why it may change
South Bureau arrests usually go to the 77th Street Regional Jail at 7600 S. Broadway, phone 323-786-5541. NBC Los Angeles reported in October 2026 that this jail has no medical staff until January 4, 2027, so people who need medical care are being sent to the downtown Metropolitan Detention Center or to Van Nuys.
So check. Use app5.lasd.org/iic or call 213-473-6100 around the clock. Our 77th Street jail page lists the address and visiting hours.
One friend or family visit is allowed per day. Bring a photo ID and leave bags and phones outside.
Sometimes a person is held at a station for a few hours before moving to the jail. If the locator is blank, give it time, and call the station desk that you think is closest.
The library, the churches and the corner stores
Vermont Square has a tight, familiar feel. Neighbors know each other, and news travels fast. That can be good, since people step up to help, and it can be hard, since families feel watched. You do not owe anyone an explanation. A private call to us stays private.
If your family goes to a church, a pastor or a church member can sometimes help with rides, childcare or a character letter for the court. Ask for what you need.
Do not post about the arrest on social media. Posts can reach the wrong people, and attorneys usually tell clients to stay quiet. Keep the circle small and the details private.
Getting from Vermont to the jail
From Vermont Avenue, the 110 is a few blocks east and the 105 is a few miles south. The 77th Street jail is about a 10 to 15 minute drive by Vermont, Manchester or Broadway at night. A downtown trip takes 15 to 25 minutes by the 110.
The Metro J Line busway on the 110 and several bus lines on Vermont are options if you do not have a car. A ride share is simplest at night.
Ask for a Spanish speaking agent when you call if that is easier for your family.
If you are driving, check the street signs near Broadway. Parking is tight, tickets are quick and a missed ticket is a cost you do not need on top of everything else.
Money and the plan
The premium is 10% of the bail, the filed rate, or 8% with a private attorney or a veteran defendant or co-signer. With 1% down on approved credit, the first payment is small and the balance goes on a monthly plan through Bail Today, Pay Later.
On a $25,000 bail, 1% is $250 down and the premium is $2,500 at 10%. On a $12,000 bail, $120 down against a $1,200 premium. Approval is required, and 1% is not the price. Try your numbers in the calculator.
Many Vermont Square families work in service jobs, schools, hospitals and transit. A recent pay stub from the co-signer helps. If pay is irregular, tell us how you earn.
Bonds on larger bail amounts may need more paperwork, and sometimes collateral. If the bail is high, call early in the day. We will tell you exactly what applies before you sign.
What court, and when
Our records do not name a single courthouse for this area. The paperwork you are given at release names the court, the department, the date and the time. If you cannot find it, call us and we will help you look.
Write the date on the calendar and tell two people. Our guide on how bail works in Los Angeles explains how the bond ties to every court date. Missing one can mean a warrant.
Start from home
You do not have to come to an office. The online application takes about 4 minutes and asks for no Social Security number online. After you send it, we call to go over the details.
For free help with a lawyer or the court process, see our resources directory. A private attorney can also lower your premium to 8%.
Keep your phone close after you apply. We may call to confirm a detail, and some answers cannot wait until morning.
1% down is a down payment on approved credit, not the price of the bond. The premium is the rate on file with the California Department of Insurance, 10% of the bail amount, or 8% when a private attorney is retained or you or the defendant is a veteran. The balance goes on a payment plan.
