Exposition Park Bail Bonds Near the Coliseum

Exposition Park is where families come for museums, the Coliseum and big game days. It is also home to people who live in the apartments and streets around it, and for them a late night arrest is a very different kind of event. If it is happening to you, call us.

I am Jane Un, a licensed California bail agent. We are open 24 hours, and we can start by phone. A friend, a parent, a spouse or an attorney can call for the person in custody.

Southwest Area and the station on MLK

Exposition Park is covered by the LAPD Southwest Area. The station is on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, not far from the park. Our Southwest station page has the address. LAPD lists no public phone number for the station in our records, so the jail information line at 213-473-6100 is a better first call.

The station is where officers start the report. South Bureau arrests are usually booked at the 77th Street Regional Jail on Broadway, but a news report says that jail has no medical staff until January 2027, so some people are sent to the downtown MDC or the Valley instead. That makes it important to confirm before you drive. See our 77th Street jail page for details.

Event days change everything

The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, Banc of California Stadium, the California Science Center and the Natural History Museum bring huge crowds. On event days, the streets around Figueroa Street and Exposition Boulevard are closed, parking costs more and the Metro E Line is packed.

If the arrest happened near an event, the details are often more complicated. Crowds, alcohol and tight spaces can lead to citations and arrests that surprise people. The booking steps are the same. What changes is the timing, because jails get busier after big events.

Do not get stuck in the traffic. Check the event schedule, use the Metro E Line to downtown if the roads are closed and leave extra time.

USC, campus police and who arrested you

The University of Southern California campus borders the park. Campus public safety officers can detain people, and then LAPD takes over the arrest. Ask which agency made the arrest and where the person is held. The jail information line can help.

If the person is a student, tell them to speak with a lawyer before talking to the school. A bond does not affect school rules, and the university may have its own process. Our resources directory lists legal aid and court self help.

Getting to the jail from the park

The 110 Harbor Freeway runs right beside Exposition Park. It is a short ride south to the 77th Street jail or north to downtown. Broadway and Figueroa Street are the straightforward surface routes, and buses run both.

At night the freeway is quick. During commute hours, it can be a crawl. If you do not have a car, the Metro E Line runs to downtown and the A Line runs toward South Los Angeles. A rideshare may be easier, especially late.

The first hours after a game day arrest

Big nights bring a certain kind of call. A family member went to a game or a concert and now they are in custody. Friends scatter, phones die and nobody knows where the person went. Here is a clean way to sort it out.

  1. Call the jail information line at 213-473-6100 and give the full name.
  2. If nothing shows up, wait an hour and try again. New bookings take time to appear.
  3. Check the LASD inmate locator on a computer or phone.
  4. Call us with what you have. We can often track down the rest.

Lost wallets and phones are common after crowded events, so the person may have no ID with them. That can slow down booking and release. Tell the jail if you are bringing ID, and ask what they accept.

Do not post on social media about the arrest. Do not call the stadium or the museum to ask questions. They cannot help with a jail booking. Call us and we will tell you what to do next, one step at a time.

Visiting rules at the jail are posted on our 77th Street jail page or the page for wherever the person is held. Because a licensed bail agent files the bond, you do not have to be there in person for every step.

Cost, with real numbers

Premium is 10% of the bail, or 8% when a private attorney is retained or the defendant or co-signer is a veteran. We never call 1% the price. With approved credit, 1% down starts the bond and a monthly plan covers the rest.

BailPremium at 10%1% down
$20,000$2,000$200
$65,000$6,500$650

The plan is Bail Today, Pay Later. Start with the online application.

Court, and pregnancy help

We do not have a confirmed courthouse for South Bureau arrests, so check the release papers and the Los Angeles Superior Court website. If a hearing date is unclear, call the clerk.

Qualifying pregnant women, 8 months or more along, with bail of $50,000 or less on a non-violent charge and a working co-signer with proof of income, may be eligible for free bail, subject to approval. See the pregnancy bail page.

1% down is a down payment on approved credit, not the price of the bond. The premium is the rate on file with the California Department of Insurance, 10% of the bail amount, or 8% when a private attorney is retained or you or the defendant is a veteran. The balance goes on a payment plan.

Questions people ask

Is Exposition Park policed by LAPD Southwest?

Yes. The Southwest Community Police Station is on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

Where is bail posted?

At the jail where the person is held. A bail agent files the bond for you, so you do not need to carry money.

Does an event arrest cost more?

Bail comes from the charge, not the event. Booking may take longer after large events.

What if campus police arrested my student?

Campus officers hand arrests to LAPD. Find where the person is held, then call us.

What if I cannot reach the station by phone?

Use the jail information line at 213-473-6100. It covers LAPD jails around the clock.
