What Twin Towers is
Twin Towers sits at 450 Bauchet St., Los Angeles, CA 90012, in the same county jail complex as the Inmate Reception Center. People arrested in Los Angeles County are processed through the Reception Center first, and LASD screens each person for mental and physical health concerns before they are housed. Twin Towers is where many men are then held, including men who need more medical or mental health care. Women are held at Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood. Sources differ on exact street numbers within the complex, so use the LASD locator to see where a person is housed.
Booking and release.
A new arrival is booked at the IRC, not here. A person is moved to Twin Towers after screening. This can take some time. LASD says unclassified people cannot receive calls or visits until they are housed, and that can take weeks. Find your loved one through the LASD Inmate Information Center or call (213) 473-6100. Release is handled through the IRC release process, and we cannot give release times because the jail controls them.
How bail is posted for someone at Twin Towers
If bail has been set, a licensed bail agent can post a surety bond. Cash bail can be paid through the cashier's office at the IRC, which LASD lists at (213) 473-6049. We could not confirm cashier hours on an official LASD page, so call first. We prepare the bond when you call us with the full name, date of birth and booking number. The Sheriff's staff then check the bond and complete the release. Our office is at 900 Avila St. Suite 101, not far from the complex. Visiting
Visiting at Twin Towers is by appointment. Register through LASD's visitor registration, then book a slot. LASD lists public visiting on Saturday through Tuesday, with a morning window and a short afternoon window. Bring photo ID. Leave phones and extra items out of your pockets and use a locker, which takes quarters. If you cannot get a visit, a call to the jail or a note to the person's attorney may be a better way to pass a message.
Medical and mental health notes for families
LASD encourages families to tell the jail about a loved one's medical or mental health needs. Its custody page explains how to fax medication and diagnosis information after the person is booked. Use the booking number, and keep the fax to medical facts only. Also tell the person's attorney. Our guide to what to do after an arrest lists other steps for the first day.
Money and mail.
Inmate trust accounts can hold money for commissary. LASD says deposits and withdrawals for released people are handled at the IRC or at Century Regional Detention Facility. Check LASD's custody pages before you send money or mail so you use the correct address and booking number.
If the person is moved
People can be moved between county facilities, including Men's Central Jail. A bond can be posted wherever the person is held. Call us first and we will help you find the right location.
What families should keep in mind.
Twin Towers is a large, busy jail. Staff cannot answer long personal questions on the phone, so have the booking number and the person's full name ready before you call. Write down the names of people you speak with and the time of day. That record helps if you need to follow up later.
It is easy to mix up Twin Towers, Men's Central and the IRC, because they sit near each other on Bauchet Street. Ask the LASD locator where the person is housed, not just where they were booked. Then use that building's name when you call. If you show up at the wrong building, nobody will be able to help you at the door, and you may lose a visiting slot.
How 1% down works for Twin Towers
On 1% down, here is how it works. Bail Today, Pay Later lets you start with 1% of the bail amount down on approved credit, and the rest of the premium goes on a monthly plan. The premium itself is 10% of the bail, which is the filed rate, or 8% when a private attorney is retained or the defendant or co-signer is a veteran. 1% down is the start of a payment plan, not the price. You can use the calculator or start the online application, which takes about 4 minutes and asks for no SSN online.
Read more on the 1% down page. We are open 24 hours at (213) 725-2815 and hold California Department of Insurance License #1843448. The guide to bail money returns explains what comes back and what does not.
1% down is a down payment on approved credit, not the price of the bond. The premium is the rate on file with the California Department of Insurance, 10% of the bail amount, or 8% when a private attorney is retained or you or the defendant is a veteran. The balance goes on a payment plan.
