77th Street Division and the jail next door

Harvard Park is served by the LAPD 77th Street Division. The station is at 7600 South Broadway, and the 77th Street Regional Jail is at the same address. That makes this one of the few neighborhoods where the arresting station and a booking jail share one location.

That does not mean every arrest here ends at the 77th Street Jail. Per NBC LA in October 2026, the jail has no medical staff until January 4, 2027, so some arrestees who need a medical check go to the downtown MDC or to Van Nuys. LAPD can move people at any time, so call before you go. See the 77th Street station page and the regional jail page.

Vermont, Gage and Slauson

Vermont Avenue runs through the neighborhood as a main street, with Gage Avenue and Slauson Avenue as cross streets. The 110 Harbor Freeway sits just to the east, and the 105 is a short drive south. Metro buses on Vermont and Broadway are the main transit for many families here.

If your person was arrested near these streets, tell us the cross streets. That helps us find the booking record. Read how to find someone in jail for the locator and the 213-473-6100 line.

Visiting and bail at the jail

LAPD says bail can be posted at its jails 24 hours a day. The 77th Street Regional Jail lists weekday visiting from the morning to noon and from 1 to 3 in the afternoon, and weekends and holidays from 9 to noon, as printed on the LAPD page. One family or friend visit per day. The jail phone is 323-786-5541.

Rules can change, so call first. Bail agents and attorneys can visit any time. We handle the paperwork so you do not stand in line.

Money, with the real numbers

The premium is 10% of the bail on our filed rate, or 8% with a private attorney or a veteran defendant or co-signer. You start with 1% down on approved credit and pay the balance monthly.

  • On $5,000 bail, the premium is $500 and 1% down is $50.
  • On $25,000 bail, the premium is $2,500 and 1% down is $250.

Try the calculator or read how bail works. We tell you every charge in advance, so there are no surprises.

Co-signers and family

A co-signer needs ID and proof of income. Many families in Harvard Park rely on several adults, and one person may carry the paperwork for all. Read co-signer responsibilities. Our resources directory lists public defenders, court self help centers and legal aid. Spanish speakers can ask for a Spanish speaking agent.

If you can, start at /apply/. It takes about four minutes, with no Social Security number typed online.

If the arrest was a few doors from the station

Harvard Park families sometimes see an arrest happen almost in front of them, then watch the car turn toward the station on Broadway. The next thing is a phone call, or no call at all. People are often booked within a few hours, but the record can take time to appear. If you cannot find your person in the system, call the jail and ask whether booking is finished.

When you reach us, tell us the name, the date of birth, the street and the time of the arrest. We use those to match the right record. If the name is common, the birth date matters most.

Do not hand money to anyone who approaches you outside the station or the jail. A licensed bail agent will give you a written receipt and a numbered statement of the bond, and our license number is CDI #1843448. You can check any bail agent's license with the California Department of Insurance.

If the person is released on a promise to appear or on a citation, you may not need a bond. Always ask what the bail is, and whether any release is possible, before paying.

Which court hears the case

The court depends on the charge and where the arrest occurred. Many South Los Angeles cases are heard at courthouses in the South Bureau, and others go downtown. Your release papers show the courthouse, the department and the date. If you cannot read them, send us a photo and we will help.

Do not miss a date. Read missed court dates. Neighbors we also cover include Vermont Square and Chesterfield Square.

Qualifying pregnant women, eight months or more, with a non-violent charge, bail of $50,000 or less and a working co-signer with proof of income, may get free bail, premium waived, subject to approval. The county women's jail is Century Regional in Lynwood. If you do not qualify, ask anyway. We are often able to help. See the program page.

Wherever your person is held, we will help you find out where they are and what the bail is.

1% down is a down payment on approved credit, not the price of the bond. The premium is the rate on file with the California Department of Insurance, 10% of the bail amount, or 8% when a private attorney is retained or you or the defendant is a veteran. The balance goes on a payment plan.
