The 77th Street station and jail
Chesterfield Square is in LAPD 77th Street Division, with its station at 7600 S. Broadway, Los Angeles, CA 90003, phone 323-786-5077. The 77th Street Regional Jail is at the same address. Our 77th Street station page has the details.
That means most arrests from the neighborhood are usually handled very close to home. Still, LAPD can move people, so call before you drive.
The neighborhood is only a few blocks across. It is tucked between Harvard Park, Hyde Park, Manchester Square and Vermont Square, and it is crossed by Western, Slauson and Normandie. Because the borders are close, the person may have been arrested a block into a different division. If so, the station on Broadway will tell you if they do not have your person.
When people are moved downtown or to Van Nuys
NBC LA reported in October 2026 that the 77th Street Regional Jail has no medical staff until January 2027. Because of that, some arrestees who need medical clearance are sent to the downtown Metropolitan Detention Center or to the Valley jail in Van Nuys. That can surprise families who go to Broadway and find no one there.
The 24 hour line at 213-473-6100 and the online search at app5.lasd.org/iic show where the person is. Call before you go.
When you go in person, bring a photo ID and be ready to wait. Posting bail can happen around the clock at an LAPD jail, but staff are often busy. Our agent can help you with the forms so you only need to stand in line once. Bring the person's full legal name and birth date.
Streets and everyday arrests
Chesterfield Square runs near Western Avenue, Slauson Avenue and Normandie Avenue, with ZIP codes 90047 and 90044. Calls to us come after traffic stops, vehicle and weapon charges, drug possession and domestic disputes. Many are first-time arrests.
The bail depends on the charge, not the street. Our guide on how bail works in Los Angeles explains it in plain words.
If a car was involved, it may have been towed. Ask the officer or the station which yard it went to, and move quickly, because storage fees grow every day. The tow fee is separate from bail and from our premium.
Weapon and vehicle charges can carry high bail, and a bond helps spread the cost. Ask us about each charge, and we will tell you plainly what to expect.
Court, and what we do not know
Our records do not list a single courthouse for this area. Cases may start at a downtown courthouse such as the Central Arraignment Courthouse on Bauchet Street, or at another court depending on the charge. The clearest answer is on the booking paperwork. If it is unclear, call us and we will help you find the right room.
Do not guess. A wrong courthouse costs a morning. Read the missed court date guide if you think a date was missed.
If the person needs a lawyer and the family cannot pay, a public defender can be appointed at the first hearing. The free resources directory at /resources/ lists where to ask. We never recommend a private attorney.
Neighbors helping neighbors
South Los Angeles families have always leaned on each other in a crisis. A grandmother may be co-signing for a grandson, or an aunt may have the steady job. We understand that. Co-signers need to be adults who can show income and who understand the promise. Read what a co-signer agrees to.
If cash is tight, call us anyway. We will tell you honestly about payment plans on approved credit.
Proof of income can be pay stubs, bank statements, a letter from an employer or a benefits letter. Bring what you have. We will tell you if anything else is needed.
1% down and the real premium
On every bond the premium is 10% of the bail, the filed rate, or 8% with a private attorney retained or a veteran defendant or co-signer. We offer 1% down on approved credit through Bail Today, Pay Later, with the balance on a monthly plan.
On a $20,000 bail, the 10% premium is $2,000 and the down payment is $200 on approved credit. Use the calculator or begin at the application, and it takes around 4 minutes with no SSN online.
People in Hyde Park and Harvard Park go through the same station.
1% down is a down payment on approved credit, not the price of the bond. The premium is the rate on file with the California Department of Insurance, 10% of the bail amount, or 8% when a private attorney is retained or you or the defendant is a veteran. The balance goes on a payment plan.
