The 77th Street station and the jail beside it

Florence is in LAPD's 77th Street Area. The station is at 7600 S. Broadway, Los Angeles, CA 90003, and the front desk number is 323-786-5077. The 77th Street Regional Jail is at the same address, and its phone is 323-786-5541.

That means a person arrested in Florence is often booked a few minutes from home. Our 77th Street station page and 77th Street jail page have the details.

Because the jail is just steps from the station desk, many families walk in and ask questions. Staff may tell you only that a person is in custody, not the bail or the charge. The county locator will show more.

A new problem with medical clearance

In October 2026 NBC Los Angeles reported that the 77th Street jail has no medical staff until January 4, 2027. People who need medical clearance are being sent to the downtown Metropolitan Detention Center or to Van Nuys. If your person is sick, injured or on medication, they may not be at 77th Street.

Check the county locator at app5.lasd.org/iic or the line at 213-473-6100 before you drive. It can save you an hour and a parking ticket.

Our MDC page lists the downtown address and visiting rules.

Getting around from Florence

The Harbor Freeway, the 110, runs through the area and reaches downtown in about 15 to 25 minutes at night. The Metro A Line has a Florence station, and several bus lines run along Florence Avenue and Normandie.

If you are driving to the jail on Broadway, leave extra time. Street parking nearby can be tight and enforcement is strict, so follow the posted signs.

Ask for a Spanish speaking agent when you call if that is easier for your family. We will try to connect you.

Court after the booking

Our records do not name a single courthouse for 77th Street Area cases. It depends on the charge and the booking location. The paperwork at release should give the court, the department, the date and the time.

If you cannot find it, call us. We can help you look up the case. Write the date on a calendar and put a reminder in your phone. Our guide on what to do after an arrest gives a short checklist.

Cases tied to a first arrest may start with a misdemeanor and a short hearing, and a felony can mean more steps and more time. Either way, a bond helps the person keep working and caring for family while the case goes on.

How the bond is paid

The premium is 10% of bail, or 8% when a private attorney is retained or when the defendant or co-signer is a veteran. With 1% down on approved credit, the first payment is small, and the rest is paid monthly under Bail Today, Pay Later.

If bail is $10,000, that is $100 down against a $1,000 premium. If bail is $50,000, that is $500 down against a $5,000 premium at 10%. Approval is required, and 1% is not the price.

Use the calculator to try your own figure.

Premium is not a deposit. It is the fee for the bond, and it is generally not refunded once the bond is posted, even if the charges are later dropped. Our guide on whether bail money is returned explains the difference between premium and bail paid in cash.

If your family member is pregnant

Qualifying pregnant women who are 8 months or more along may be eligible for a waived premium. Non-violent charge, bail $50,000 or less, and a working co-signer with proof of income are required. It is subject to approval, and we are often able to help even when a case seems close, so ask.

Women in county custody are usually held at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, which is close to Florence. Read the details at our pregnancy program page.

Starting without leaving home

Many families in Florence share one car, or none. You do not need to travel to start. The online application takes about 4 minutes and does not ask for a Social Security number online. After you send it, a person calls you.

Have a recent pay stub for the co-signer, the name of the person, the jail if you know it, and the charge if you know it. If you do not have everything, start anyway.

A co-signer can also be a person who is not in Los Angeles. Many of our Florence families have relatives in other states who step in, sign by phone and email, and send the first payment online. That can speed things up, and it spreads the weight across more people.

1% down is a down payment on approved credit, not the price of the bond. The premium is the rate on file with the California Department of Insurance, 10% of the bail amount, or 8% when a private attorney is retained or you or the defendant is a veteran. The balance goes on a payment plan.
