Twin Towers Correctional Facility

How to Visit Someone at Twin Towers Correctional Facility

LASD lists Twin Towers public visiting on Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, 8:00 AM to noon and 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM. Visits are by appointment only, and visitors must register at visit.lasd.org first. Photo ID is required, and LASD suggests a few quarters for a locker. Arrive 30 minutes early.

When can I visit someone at Twin Towers?

TTCF has a split schedule. LASD lists a morning window from 8:00 AM to noon and a short afternoon window from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM, on Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. The jail is at 450 Bauchet Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012, and the general phone is (213) 893-5100.

You can book up to 7 days ahead through LASD visit scheduling. LASD says general population inmates get at least two 30-minute visits a week, in person or by video, so use the slot well.

What do I need to bring?

Photo ID is required at Twin Towers, and LASD suggests bringing a few quarters for a locker. Leave extra items in the car or the locker, because you will not be able to carry them in.

We could not find a published dress code, so ask the jail before you go. Choose plain clothes that cover you. The appointment itself needs a completed registration, and a booking number helps the staff find him.

How early should I get there?

LASD says to arrive 30 minutes before the appointment at Twin Towers, and to check in with staff. A late arrival can mean a cancelled visit. The short afternoon window leaves little room for delays.

The Inmate Reception Center is next door at the same street address and has no visiting, so do not walk into the wrong building.

Who can visit, and can children come?

Visitors who are on probation, on parole or have a past felony must complete a Visiting Clearance form first, and LASD's FAQ says approval can take up to a month. It lists the Legal Unit at (213) 974-0103.

A child under 15 visiting with a parent needs a birth certificate. A child over 15 can use a school ID, state ID or passport. With anyone other than a parent, a minor under 18 also needs a notarized letter from the parent. For guardians, bring court papers.

Dress and pack simply, and leave early. Downtown traffic and parking can eat into a half hour cushion, and the afternoon window is short, so a calm arrival is worth more than a rushed one.

What about attorneys and a person who is just booked?

LASD lists professional visiting for TTCF and the IRC Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with the last pass at 4:00 PM and the office closed from 1:00 to 2:00 PM.

A newly booked man cannot be visited until he is housed. LASD says that can take two weeks to a month. Check inmate search first. Men's Central visiting is on a different schedule, so confirm the building.

What if I cannot get a visit?

Write a letter, see the mail page for the address. LASD's scheduling help desk is IVVSPublicHelpDesk@lasd.org or (213) 680-4887, Monday through Friday, 7 AM to 2 PM. While you work on visits, 1% down on approved credit may be a way to bring him home. We take calls at (213) 725-2815.

Keep a short list of who in the family is registered, because each visitor registers on their own. Decide ahead of time who takes the first slot, since two 30-minute visits a week is the floor LASD lists, not a promise of more.

1% down is a down payment on approved credit, not the price of the bond. The premium is the rate on file with the California Department of Insurance, 10% of the bail amount, or 8% when a private attorney is retained or you or the defendant is a veteran. The balance goes on a payment plan.
