The Northeast station on San Fernando Road
Glassell Park is served by the LAPD Northeast Area. The station is on San Fernando Road, a short drive from the neighborhood, and our Northeast station page has the address and phone number.
The same station covers Highland Park, Eagle Rock, Silver Lake and Atwater Village, so the desk can be busy. Be patient and tell them you are calling for a family member. Bail is not posted at the station for most people. They are usually moved downtown to the Metropolitan Detention Center, and you can confirm with 213-473-6100.
Roads that get you downtown
Glassell Park sits right beside the Glendale Freeway, the 2, which runs south to the 5 Freeway and on toward downtown. Eagle Rock Boulevard, Verdugo Road and San Fernando Road are the main surface streets. At night it is a quick drive. In the morning it can be slow.
Once downtown, park near Los Angeles Street and head to the booking area. Read our MDC page for what to bring.
If you do not drive, ask a neighbor or call a rideshare. Do not let the lack of a car stop the process. We can handle the bond paperwork by phone or email.
What 1% down means on a real bail amount
Our premium is 10% of bail, or 8% when a private attorney is retained or the defendant or co-signer is a veteran. We never call 1% the price. With 1% down on approved credit, you make a small first payment and the balance goes on a monthly plan.
| Bail amount | Premium at 10% | 1% down |
|---|---|---|
| $10,000 | $1,000 | $100 |
| $50,000 | $5,000 | $500 |
You can start the process on our online application. Read about how 1% down bail bonds work if you want the full picture.
The first twenty four hours, step by step
When the call comes, the hours that follow tend to blur. Here is a simple order of events so you know where you are.
- Officers arrest the person and take them to a station or straight to a jail.
- Booking staff take fingerprints, photos and basic details, and record the charge.
- Bail is set from the county schedule unless a judge has already set something else.
- You call us with the name and date of birth, and we confirm the bail amount with the jail.
- The co-signer applies, we review it, and if approved the bond is filed with the jail.
- The jail finishes release paperwork. We cannot control that timing, and nobody can promise a time.
Some people are released with a promise to appear, without any bail. Others have a hold from another agency and cannot leave even after a bond is posted. If that happens, we will tell you what we find.
If you are overwhelmed, do just one thing. Call the jail information line and write down where the person is. Everything else can wait ten minutes. Our guide on what to do after an arrest in Los Angeles lays the steps out again in plain language.
Take care of yourself too. Drink water, eat something and let one person in your family be the point of contact so the story does not get tangled.
Parks, hills and what families ask
People here love the hillside views, the Glassell Park Recreation Center and the quiet side streets off Verdugo Road. When something goes wrong, they usually ask three things. Where is my family member, how much is it and how do I get them out without losing my job or my home?
We answer the first with the jail locator, the second with the booking sheet and the third with a straightforward payment plan. If you are the co-signer, read what you are agreeing to in our co-signer guide.
After release
Cases that start downtown are usually heard first at the Central Arraignment Courthouse on Bauchet Street, and felony cases then go to the Foltz Criminal Justice Center on Temple Street. We will help you understand the date on the paperwork.
Keep the court date, keep the phone number you gave us working and let us know if you move. Need legal help? Our free resources directory has public defenders and court self help.
Pregnant and in jail
Qualifying pregnant women, 8 months or more along, with bail of $50,000 or less on a non-violent charge and a working co-signer with proof of income, may be eligible for free bail with the premium waived, subject to approval. If she does not qualify, ask anyway. We are often able to help.
1% down is a down payment on approved credit, not the price of the bond. The premium is the rate on file with the California Department of Insurance, 10% of the bail amount, or 8% when a private attorney is retained or you or the defendant is a veteran. The balance goes on a payment plan.
Questions people ask
Does Glassell Park have its own police station?
No. The LAPD Northeast Community Police Station on San Fernando Road serves it, along with several nearby neighborhoods.
Where will the person be held?
Most often the Metropolitan Detention Center downtown. LAPD can move people between jails, so check with the information line at 213-473-6100 before you drive.
Can I pay the bond with a card?
Ask us when you call. We will tell you which payment methods are available for your approved plan.
Can I apply for someone who is not family?
A friend can call. The co-signer needs to be an adult who can be approved and who understands the responsibilities.
What if the arrest happened outside Los Angeles?
If the person was held by another city or the sheriff, the jail will be different. We can still help once you find where they are.
