Bail Bonds in Elysian Valley (Frogtown), Los Angeles

If someone from Elysian Valley was just arrested, start with one call to (213) 725-2815. Jane Un Bail Bonds is a licensed California bail agent, CDI License #1843448, and we answer all night.

Elysian Valley, which many people still call Frogtown, is a narrow strip of homes, workshops and small studios squeezed between the Los Angeles River and the 5 freeway. Riverside Drive runs through the middle. Cyclists and walkers share the river path, and the neighborhood has a close, small town feel in the middle of a huge city.

That tight shape also affects how arrests work here. A few minutes of reading will save you a lot of confusion.

The first stop is the Northeast station

Elysian Valley sits inside the LAPD Northeast Area. The station is on San Fernando Road, close to the 5 and the river, and its front desk number is 323-561-3211. Our Northeast station page has the details.

After officers book the person, most Northeast arrestees usually go to the Metropolitan Detention Center downtown. Usually is the right word. LAPD can send people to another facility, so call before you drive. The MDC page shows hours, address and visiting rules.

A neighborhood with borders on every side

Elysian Valley is small and surrounded. Atwater Village is to the north, Silver Lake and Echo Park are to the south and west, Glassell Park and Cypress Park to the east, and the river and freeways cut through the middle. One block can mean a different community, and sometimes a different agency.

An arrest on the river path may involve city officers, park staff or a different patrol unit depending on where the person was standing. If the arrest happened near the Glendale border, it may even be handled by another city. Tell us the street and the cross street, and we will help find the right jail. Our page for Atwater Village next door explains its own route.

Getting downtown from Riverside Drive

The trip is short on a map and slow in a rush. Take Riverside Drive or Fletcher Drive to the 5 south, or the 2 and then surface streets. At night the 5 flows well. During commute hours, give yourself extra time.

The booking jail sits on Los Angeles Street, and parking is hard to find. If you are tired, a rideshare is safer. Bail can be posted day or night, so you do not need to wait for sunrise. Start our short online application from your phone while you travel.

Reading the money before you sign

A bail bond fee is called the premium. It is 10% of the bail at the filed rate, or 8% when a private attorney is hired or the defendant or co-signer is a veteran. Our plan, Bail Today, Pay Later, lets you start with 1% down on approved credit and pay the balance in monthly payments.

If bail is $30,000, the premium at 10% is $3,000. The 1% down payment is $300. That is a down payment, never the price. Approval is required, and we show every number first.

Artists, workers and the real world of a creative neighborhood

Many people in the Valley work for themselves, share studio space, or work odd hours. That can make the paperwork feel strange. Proof of income does not have to be a pay stub from a big employer. Bank deposits, invoices and a letter from a long time client may be part of the conversation. Tell us honestly how you earn money, and we will tell you what we need.

If a co-signer is needed, a family member or a close friend with steady income often works. The co-signer is promising the defendant will come to every court date. That promise is serious, and we explain it clearly. The co-signer guide covers it in plain English.

After release

The case usually begins at the Central Arraignment Courthouse downtown, with felony cases moving to the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center. The date appears on release papers. Photograph them and send the photo to a friend so it is not lost.

If the defendant needs legal help, free and low cost resources are listed in our resources directory. We do not give legal advice and we do not recommend lawyers.

1% down is a down payment on approved credit, not the price of the bond. The premium is the rate on file with the California Department of Insurance, 10% of the bail amount, or 8% when a private attorney is retained or you or the defendant is a veteran. The balance goes on a payment plan.

Questions people ask

What is the Northeast station phone number?

The front desk is 323-561-3211. Call it to ask whether the person is still at the station. After booking, the inmate line at 213-473-6100 is better.

Is the river path covered by LAPD?

Often yes, though who responds depends on the exact spot and the situation. If you are unsure, call the inmate line and ask where the person was booked.

Do you speak Spanish?

Ask for a Spanish speaking agent when you call, and we will connect you as quickly as we can.

Can I start the paperwork before I reach the jail?

Yes. The application takes about four minutes and asks for no Social Security number online. An agent then follows up.

What if the person is pregnant?

Qualifying pregnant women who are at least eight months along may get a waived premium under our free bail program, subject to approval. See the pregnancy program page for conditions, and ask us even if you are unsure.
