Echo Park Bail Bonds

If someone was arrested around Echo Park Lake, Sunset Boulevard or the Dodger Stadium side of the hill, call (213) 725-2815 any hour. Jane Un Bail Bonds is a licensed California bail agent, and a real person will answer.

Echo Park has two faces. There is the lake, the bike lanes and the late night crowds on Sunset. There is also game day, when thousands of fans pack the streets around Dodger Stadium. An arrest in either setting follows the same road, and this page shows you that road.

Our LA office at 900 Avila St Suite 101 is only a few minutes from the downtown jails, so we know this route well.

Rampart or Northeast, check which one

LAPD lists Echo Park under Rampart Area and also under Northeast Area. Our records put it in Rampart, whose station is at 1401 W. 6th Street, Los Angeles, CA 90017. The front desk number is 213-484-3400.

The Northeast station is at 3353 San Fernando Rd., Los Angeles, CA 90065. The east side of Echo Park, near the hills and Elysian Park, can fall on that side. Our station pages for Rampart and Northeast show the details.

Calling a station desk can tell you whether someone is there, but the desk is often busy and may say only that the person was booked. The county locator tells you more.

Game days and event nights

When a Dodgers game or a big event lets out, officers in the area make arrests for things like public intoxication, fighting and drunk driving. If your family member was at the stadium, the arrest may involve LAPD no matter which side of the hill it happened on.

People arrested after a long day of tailgating sometimes give a wrong spelling or a nickname at booking. If the locator shows nothing, try shorter versions of the name, a middle name, or the last name alone.

A DUI arrest can also start with a hospital visit or a blood draw, which slows booking. That is normal and not a sign that something is wrong.

From the lake to the jail

Downtown is close. From Echo Park, Sunset Boulevard or Glendale Boulevard leads toward the 101 and the Civic Center in minutes. Most arrests here usually go to the Metropolitan Detention Center at 180 N. Los Angeles St., though LAPD may move people if medical clearance is needed.

Street parking near MDC is hard to find. A garage near Temple or First is easier than circling. Our MDC page has hours and rules for visits. One friend or family member can visit per day, and attorneys and bail agents can visit at any time.

What the bond costs and how the plan works

The premium is 10% of the bail, the rate on file with the California Department of Insurance, or 8% with a private attorney or a veteran defendant or co-signer. 1% down on approved credit means you pay that first small slice and the balance goes on a monthly plan.

If bail is set at $10,000, that is $100 down against a $1,000 premium at 10%. The leftover is paid monthly through Bail Today, Pay Later. Approval is needed, and 1% is not the price. Use the calculator to try your own figure.

Ask for a Spanish speaking agent if that is easier for your family. We will try to match you.

Court after the booking

Most Echo Park cases are heard downtown, either at the Central Arraignment Courthouse on Bauchet Street or at the Foltz Criminal Justice Center on Temple Street. The paperwork lists the department. Our guide on what to do after an arrest covers the first 48 hours step by step.

If you are worried about money for a lawyer, the resources directory lists public defenders and legal aid. Retaining a private attorney can also bring the premium down to 8%.

Visiting, mail and phone calls once the person is in

Once your family member is booked, they can usually make phone calls from the jail, and those calls are limited and recorded. Do not talk about the facts of the case on a jail line. Say you love them, ask what they need, and give them our number if they want to arrange a bond.

One friend or family visit is allowed per day at LAPD jails, and attorneys and bail agents may visit at any time. Bring photo ID. Leave phones and bags in the car, since lockers are limited.

If the person is moved to county after arraignment, the rules change. The Inmate Reception Center on Bauchet Street then becomes the contact point. Our IRC page explains what to expect, including how to look up the person once the move happens and how bail is handled after a transfer between jails.

1% down is a down payment on approved credit, not the price of the bond. The premium is the rate on file with the California Department of Insurance, 10% of the bail amount, or 8% when a private attorney is retained or you or the defendant is a veteran. The balance goes on a payment plan.

Questions people ask

Is Echo Park in the Rampart Area?

Mostly yes, though LAPD also lists it under Northeast. The booking record will show the arresting division.

Can I get someone out the same night?

We never promise a release time, because the jail controls that. We can start the paperwork right away, and a bond can only be posted once the person is booked and bail is set.

What if bail has not been set yet?

Some people are held until a judge sets bail at a first appearance. Call us and we will tell you what we can do now. Read about pre-arraignment release for how that works in LA.

Do you only help with downtown arrests?

No. We help families across Los Angeles County, and we work with all of the jails in the area. Just tell us where the person is held.

Can my friend sign as co-signer?

Yes, if they are an adult with steady income who can be approved. They do not need to be family.
