The station that serves Eagle Rock

Eagle Rock is in LAPD Northeast Division. The station is at 3353 San Fernando Rd., Los Angeles, CA 90065, in Glassell Park, a few minutes from Colorado Boulevard. The phone is 323-561-3211. Our Northeast station page lists more.

That same station serves Highland Park, Mount Washington and Silver Lake. A person arrested near Eagle Rock Plaza, on the Colorado Boulevard strip or around Occidental College is likely to be taken there first. The station front desk can tell you whether your person is in the building. They may not know the next move, so ask about the jail too.

Eagle Rock sits at the northeast corner of the city, tucked against Glendale and Pasadena, and just off the 134 and the 2. That location means a night out can end in a different city's custody. If the arrest was in Glendale or Pasadena, those cities have their own police departments and jails, and the steps are different. Tell us the street where it happened and we will sort out which agency is involved.

From the station to booking

After the station, adults are usually booked at the Metropolitan Detention Center, 180 N. Los Angeles St. LAPD can move people, so call the 24 hour inmate line at 213-473-6100, or search the LASD Inmate Information Center at app5.lasd.org/iic, before you leave home.

From Eagle Rock, the 2 freeway runs toward downtown, and the 134 and 5 are the other routes. If you do not drive, the Metro A Line at Highland Park reaches Union Station, and a short walk or a ride gets you to the jail.

When you get to the jail, tell the desk you are there to post a bond for the person, or ask our agent to meet you. You will need a photo ID. Bring the booking number if you have it, but you can start without it. Bail can be posted around the clock, so there is no need to wait for morning.

What arrests near the college and the boulevard look like

Eagle Rock has a lively strip on Colorado Boulevard, with restaurants, bars, a theater and a college campus close by. Arrests that happen there often involve drinking, traffic stops after a night out, or disputes at a party. Burglaries from parked cars and catalytic converter thefts are also in the news around town.

The charge decides the bail, not the neighborhood. Read our guide on how much bail costs in California so you know what range to expect.

If a student was arrested, tell us. The family may live far away and need help from a distance. Many steps can be done by phone and online.

Which court hears the case

Cases from Eagle Rock are likely to start downtown. People booked at the downtown jail are usually arraigned at the Central Arraignment Courthouse, 429 Bauchet St. Felony cases then continue at the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center, 210 W. Temple St.

Your bail paperwork has the first date. Never skip it. A missed date can mean a warrant and the loss of the bond. If something goes wrong, read about what happens after a missed court date and call us right away.

Cases can also be assigned to a branch court if the charge is a lower level one. If that happens, the paperwork will say so. The first hearing is often brief. A judge reads the charge, sets or reviews bail, and sets the next date. Dress neatly and be on time, because a missed hearing is far worse than a late one that you phone about.

What a co-signer does

A co-signer is a trusted adult who promises to make sure the person goes to every court date, and to pay the balance if needed. Many Eagle Rock families have a parent who owns a home nearby, or a spouse with steady work. That helps with approval, which is never guaranteed.

Read what a co-signer agrees to before anyone signs. We explain it again on the phone, slowly, and we answer every question.

If a co-signer lives out of state, we can often handle the paperwork electronically. If the co-signer is the parent of an adult child, ask whether the child has a job and a place to stay. A stable address and a job show the court that the person will return, and they help with approval too.

Cost, 1% down and the next step

The filed rate is 10% of the bail for the premium. It is 8% for a veteran defendant, a veteran co-signer or a case with a private attorney retained. Through Bail Today, Pay Later, the down payment is 1% on approved credit, with the rest on a monthly plan.

If bail is $10,000, the 10% premium is $1,000, and the down payment is $100 on approved credit. Use the calculator for your number, or start the paperwork at the online application. Plan on about 4 minutes, and no SSN is entered online.

Neighbors in Highland Park and Glassell Park use the same station and the same steps.

1% down is a down payment on approved credit, not the price of the bond. The premium is the rate on file with the California Department of Insurance, 10% of the bail amount, or 8% when a private attorney is retained or you or the defendant is a veteran. The balance goes on a payment plan.

Eagle Rock is served by LAPD Northeast Division at 3353 San Fernando Rd. in Glassell Park. The phone is 323-561-3211.

Will my son be held at that station?

Often only briefly. Adults are usually moved to the downtown Metropolitan Detention Center. LAPD can change this, so call to confirm.

How soon can I call you?

Right now. We answer 24 hours a day at (213) 725-2815. We cannot promise a release time, because the jail controls that.

Does a student on his own need a co-signer?

Usually yes. A parent or another adult with income often co-signs. Approval is required.

What if we need a lawyer?

We never recommend an attorney. Our resources page lists public defenders, court self help and legal aid.
