Hollywood Hills Bail Bonds, From Mulholland to Cahuenga

When someone is arrested in the Hollywood Hills, families often learn about it from a short, scared phone call. If that was you, call Jane Un Bail Bonds at (213) 725-2815. We are a licensed California bail agent, CDI License #1843448, open 24 hours a day.

The Hills are made of narrow canyon roads, steep driveways, party houses, quiet family streets and hikers' trailheads. They stretch from the Cahuenga Pass in the east toward Laurel Canyon and Mulholland Drive on top. People are arrested here after traffic stops on twisty roads, noise complaints, and nights out near the Hollywood Bowl.

Here is what usually happens next.

Which station covers the Hills

Most of the area is covered by the LAPD Hollywood Area. The station is on Wilcox Avenue in Hollywood proper, and the front desk number is 213-972-2971. Our Hollywood station page has more detail.

A few streets near the western and northern edges can belong to other areas, and the Valley side of Mulholland is a different world. If you do not know which station took the person, ask the phone line at 213-473-6100. They can confirm the booking.

Hollywood Hills streets are steep, many have no sidewalks, and some addresses are hard to find on a map. When you talk to the station or to us, give a cross street, a landmark or the nearest main road. That is much faster than reading out a long house number that a dispatcher cannot place.

Why Mulholland and the Bowl change things

Mulholland Drive is a ridge road with views and a lot of patrol attention at night. A stop for speeding, a lane violation or a DUI check is a common starting point for an arrest up there.

The Hollywood Bowl brings tens of thousands of people to the base of the Hills on show nights. After a late concert, traffic stops and street disputes follow. A person arrested after an event is booked like anyone else, but processing may take longer on a busy night.

Tourists make up a real share of arrests near the Bowl and the trailheads. If a visitor from out of state or another country was arrested, bail can still be posted. The co-signer can be a friend or family member here, and an agent can explain how the court date works for someone who lives far away. Be honest with us about travel plans so we can plan the right steps.

From the Hills to the booking jail

Most Hollywood Area arrestees are booked at the Metropolitan Detention Center on Los Angeles Street downtown, though LAPD may use other facilities. Always confirm. The MDC page lists hours and rules.

The drive is simple in theory. Take the 101 south through the Cahuenga Pass, then follow it to the downtown interchange. At night it moves. In rush hour, expect a crawl. From the upper canyons, allow extra time just to get down to the freeway.

Understanding the cost

Bail bond premium is 10% of the bail, the filed rate, or 8% with a private attorney or a veteran defendant or co-signer. Through Bail Today, Pay Later, you start with 1% down on approved credit and spread the balance over monthly payments.

For a $50,000 bail, the premium is $5,000 and the 1% down payment is $500. For a $10,000 bail the down payment is $100. You will be shown the real total before you sign. Our 1% down versus 10% guide compares the two paths.

Court dates and next steps

A downtown booking leads to a first appearance at the Central Arraignment Courthouse, then possibly the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center. Plan your route ahead. Parking is limited and Metro is easier.

If the defendant has a job in the entertainment business with odd hours, build the court date into their schedule immediately. A missed appearance is expensive for everyone. Read how our pre-arraignment release guide can affect the timeline.

After release, the defendant should avoid contact with anyone the court ordered them to stay away from, and should avoid new trouble of any kind. A new arrest while on bail can create new problems for the defendant and the co-signer. We say this gently, because most people are scared and ready to do the right thing.

A word for co-signers in the Hills

Many co-signers here are homeowners or renters with steady work. The co-signer promises that the defendant will show up, and the bond can become the co-signer's responsibility if they do not. Ask every question you have before you sign. We would rather you take an extra ten minutes.

1% down is a down payment on approved credit, not the price of the bond. The premium is the rate on file with the California Department of Insurance, 10% of the bail amount, or 8% when a private attorney is retained or you or the defendant is a veteran. The balance goes on a payment plan.

Questions people ask

What is the Hollywood station phone number?

The Hollywood Area desk answers at 213-972-2971. For booking information after the person leaves the station, call the inmate line at 213-473-6100.

Does a DUI on Mulholland mean a different process?

The bail steps are the same. Some DUI cases have bail set by the schedule at booking and a court appearance later. Call us with the name and charge and we will explain.

Can I bail someone out from outside Los Angeles?

Yes. A family member in another city can start the application online and sign paperwork remotely, with an agent guiding the steps.

What if the person was arrested by another agency?

Streets near the Hills can fall under other police departments or the Sheriff. The jail may be a different one. Tell us where the arrest happened and we will find the booking location.

Is there help if the arrested person cannot afford a lawyer?

Yes. Public defenders are appointed at arraignment when eligible. Our resources directory lists legal aid and court help.
