Century Regional Detention Facility (CRDF)

How to Visit Someone at Century Regional Detention Facility (CRDF)

LASD lists CRDF public visiting on Friday and Monday, 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM, and on Saturday and Sunday, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Visits are by appointment, and you must register first. Bring a government photo ID. You can book up to 7 days ahead and should arrive 30 minutes early.

When can I visit CRDF?

LASD lists these public visiting days at CRDF, 11705 S. Alameda St., Lynwood.

  • Friday, 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM
  • Saturday, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM
  • Sunday, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM
  • Monday, 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM

Plan your trip around the day. Friday and Monday give you only a morning window, so a late start can cost you the whole visit. Saturday and Sunday leave more room.

Weekend slots are longer, which is easier for working families and for anyone who needs child care. General population inmates get at least two 30 minute in person or video visits a week. LASD counts both kinds toward that number. LASD does not say which jails offer video, so ask when you book.

How do I book a CRDF visit?

All public visits are by appointment. There are no walk-ins. Register as a visitor and schedule at visit.lasd.org. You can book up to 7 days ahead. Arrive 30 minutes before your appointment at CRDF and check in with staff, or the visit may be cancelled. Only Men's Central Jail and Pitchess ask for 60 minutes.

The help desk is (213) 680-4887 or IVVSPublicHelpDesk@lasd.org, Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM. For ADA help call (213) 972-2200 in the same hours.

What ID and items can I bring to a CRDF visit?

LASD says photo ID is required at CRDF, and suggests a few quarters for a locker. We could not find an official dress code, so we will not guess. Call (213) 473-6100 or check the LASD visit page before you go. Leave anything you do not need in the car.

Visitors who are on probation, on parole or who are ex-felons must complete a Visiting Clearance form before visiting. LASD says approval can take up to a month.

Can I bring my kids to see their mom at CRDF?

Yes, with the right papers. A child under 15 with a parent needs a birth certificate. A child over 15 can use a school ID, state ID or passport. If the child comes with someone who is not a parent, the child also needs a notarized letter from a parent when under 18. A legal guardian brings court papers.

Many visitors to CRDF are moms, sisters and partners with children at home. Plan for the long drive south of downtown, and for the wait. If a visit is hard to arrange, write a letter. See our page on mail to CRDF.

Can I visit the day after an arrest at CRDF?

Usually not. LASD says unclassified inmates cannot receive visits or calls until they are housed. That can take two weeks to a month. A newly booked woman is often still going through the downtown intake first. Look her up on our CRDF search page and confirm she is housed at CRDF before booking.

Attorneys have separate hours. LASD lists CRDF professional visiting Monday through Friday, 9:15 AM to 4:00 PM, with the last pass at 3:30 PM.

If bail is set and a family needs help with it, you can start with 1% of the bail amount down on approved credit. The premium is set by our filed rate, and the rest goes on a payment plan. See how 1% down works or apply online. We are a licensed private bail agent, not part of LASD, and approval is required. If she can come home, a visit may not be needed.

1% down is a down payment on approved credit, not the price of the bond. The premium is the rate on file with the California Department of Insurance, 10% of the bail amount, or 8% when a private attorney is retained or you or the defendant is a veteran. The balance goes on a payment plan.
