Century Regional Detention Facility (CRDF)
What Is the Mailing Address for a Woman at Century Regional Detention Facility (CRDF)?
LASD lists two ways to mail a woman at CRDF. Use her name, booking number, Century Regional Detention Facility, 11705 S. Alameda St., Lynwood, CA 90262. Or use the general LASD box at P.O. Box 86164, Terminal Annex, Los Angeles, CA 90086-0164. Rejected mail is returned intact.
What address do I use for mail to CRDF?
For a woman held at CRDF, LASD lists this address.
- Inmate Name
- Booking Number
- Century Regional Detention Facility
- 11705 S. Alameda St.
- Lynwood, CA 90262
LASD also lists a general address that works for all male and female inmates, P.O. Box 86164, Terminal Annex, Los Angeles, CA 90086-0164, with the name and booking number above it. Pick one and use it each time. Always write the booking number. If you do not have it, use the CRDF search page.
What mail does CRDF reject?
LASD returns rejected mail intact. These items are on its list.
- Food, cosmetics, perfume, powders or lipstick
- Cash, personal checks, payroll checks, second party checks, out of state checks or blank money orders
- Blank envelopes, metal clasps, stamps, stickers or glued labels
- Paper clips, staples, pens, pencils or glitter
- Musical, plastic or blank greeting cards
- Postcards larger than 6 by 9 inches
- Jewelry, rosary beads, string bracelets or balloons
- Lottery tickets, prepaid phone cards, tape, CDs or cassettes
- ID cards, gang symbols or suggestive art
The mail room supervisor line is (213) 893-5874.
Can I send books and photos to CRDF?
Books and magazines must come straight from a bookstore or publisher. LASD allows up to 3 books and 3 periodicals a week. No hard covers, and no metal or plastic binding. Explicit sexual content, nudity and how to guides for weapons or crime are not allowed.
Photos must be at least 3 by 5 inches and no bigger than 4 by 6 inches. No nudity, suggestive poses or gang imagery. If a book or magazine is returned and you disagree, you can file an appeal on the LASD website within 15 days. LASD decides within 15 business days.
What should I write to a mom at CRDF?
Keep it short and kind. Jail mail can be read, so do not write about the case. If she has children at home, a line saying they are safe and loved can mean a lot. Photos of the kids within the 3 by 5 to 4 by 6 inch range are allowed if they have no banned content.
Write the date on the letter and number the pages, so she knows if one is missing. A plain letter on plain paper in a plain envelope is safest. Skip stickers, glitter and anything glued, since those are on the rejected list. If you want to include a picture, check the size first.
Letters are not a fast channel. If something is urgent, such as a court date or a child care change, use the phone line when she calls out, and tell the attorney too.
Is mail the only way to reach her at CRDF?
No. Read our pages on phone calls from CRDF and visiting CRDF. Money is a separate step, so see how to send money. Do not mail a prepaid phone card, because LASD rejects them.
If she is pregnant, ask us about our community program for qualifying pregnant women. Qualifying pregnant women may receive a reduced or waived bail bond premium. A co-signer is required, and it is subject to approval and underwriting.
If bail is set and a family needs help with it, you can start with 1% of the bail amount down on approved credit. The premium is set by our filed rate, and the rest goes on a payment plan. See how 1% down works or apply online. We are a licensed private bail agent, not part of LASD, and approval is required.
1% down is a down payment on approved credit, not the price of the bond. The premium is the rate on file with the California Department of Insurance, 10% of the bail amount, or 8% when a private attorney is retained or you or the defendant is a veteran. The balance goes on a payment plan.
