Manchester Square Bail Bonds, Near Western Avenue and Century

Manchester Square is a small, unusual corner of Los Angeles, close to the airport and wedged among bigger neighborhoods. If someone was arrested there, call Jane Un Bail Bonds at (213) 725-2815. We are a licensed California bail agent, CDI License #1843448, and we answer 24 hours a day.

The neighborhood sits near Manchester Avenue, Western Avenue and Century Boulevard, with ZIP codes 90047 and 90044 nearby. The roar of aircraft is part of daily life. Chesterfield Square, Hyde Park, Gramercy Park and Harvard Park are close, and the borders are not always clear.

That fuzzy border is the first thing to understand about an arrest here.

Which station? Check before you drive

Our records place Manchester Square in the LAPD 77th Street Area, whose station is at 7600 South Broadway, front desk 323-786-5077. But the area sits near the edges of other divisions, and some addresses may belong to a different one. We are not fully certain for every block.

That is why we suggest a short phone call before you go. Ask the inmate line at 213-473-6100 where the person was booked. Our 77th Street station page covers the likely answer.

The airport factor

The neighborhood also sees plenty of traffic from people who do not live there. Hotel guests, rental car customers, workers on shift changes and drivers looking for the freeway pass through all day. A traffic stop on Century or Manchester can involve someone from far away who knows no one in town.

Century Boulevard leads straight to LAX. An arrest at the airport itself, or on airport property, may begin with a different police agency than LAPD's neighborhood patrol. Travelers can be arrested for alcohol, fights or other airport incidents and then booked somewhere unfamiliar.

If the arrested person lives out of state, call us anyway. A family member far away can often handle the bond with remote paperwork. We will explain the steps and the court date, which still requires a return to Los Angeles.

Likely jail, with caution

South Bureau arrestees are usually taken to the 77th Street Regional Jail on South Broadway. Reports say the jail has lacked medical staff for a time, so a person who needs medical clearance may be taken to the Metropolitan Detention Center downtown or the Valley Jail in Van Nuys.

Our 77th Street Regional Jail page has the address and phone. Always confirm before you drive.

What 1% down really means

A bond fee is called the premium. It is 10% of bail at the filed rate, or 8% if a private attorney is retained or the defendant or co-signer is a veteran. Through Bail Today, Pay Later, you can start with 1% down on approved credit and pay the balance monthly.

For $20,000 bail, the premium is $2,000 and the 1% down payment is $200. Approval is required. The 1% is only the down payment, never the price. See our explainer on 1% down versus 10% up front.

Getting around

If you are a visitor and have never been to a Los Angeles jail, keep in mind that most people do not post bail in person at the cell. Bail is taken at a window, and the release comes later, once the paperwork clears. We cannot predict how long it takes, and the jail does not promise a time. Bring a charged phone and be patient.

From Manchester Square, the 405 and the 110 are both close. Western Avenue and Manchester Avenue run through the area, and several bus lines serve them. Air traffic does not stop at night, and neither do the roads. Late at night the drive is quick, though some stretches near the airport are busy with shuttles and taxis.

If you have a long ride, start our online application while you travel. It takes about four minutes.

Court and your next steps

Depending on where the person was booked, the case may be heard downtown or at another courthouse. The Airport Courthouse on La Cienega Boulevard hears some cases from the area. The release papers show where. If anything is unclear, call the clerk or call us.

A casual word on cost. We do not add charges on top of the premium, and we explain any actual and reasonable expense that the law allows before it applies. That is a promise we keep, because the family deserves clear numbers at a hard moment.

Free court help and legal aid are listed in our resources directory. Do not skip the first court date for any reason. A missed date can turn a small case into a bigger one.

1% down is a down payment on approved credit, not the price of the bond. The premium is the rate on file with the California Department of Insurance, 10% of the bail amount, or 8% when a private attorney is retained or you or the defendant is a veteran. The balance goes on a payment plan.
