LAPD Rampart Community Police Station and Bail Help

LAPD's Rampart Community Police Station is at 1401 W. 6th St., Los Angeles, CA 90017, and its front desk is not usually where bail is posted. We are a private licensed bail agent, not part of LAPD or LASD, and this page explains what the station does and what to do next.

Rampart Station, address and communities

Rampart Station is at 1401 W. 6th St., just west of downtown near Westlake and MacArthur Park. Its area runs from Echo Park and Angelino Heights through Historic Filipinotown and Pico-Union. Dodger Stadium and Echo Park Lake bring crowds on game days and weekends. The 101 and 110 freeways bracket the area, and Metro rail stops at Westlake/MacArthur Park and nearby stations make it easy to reach on transit.

The station address is 1401 W. 6th St., Los Angeles, CA 90017. The front desk phone is (213) 484-3400. The official LAPD list of communities served is Angelino Heights, Echo Park, Historic Filipinotown, Lafayette Park, MacArthur Park, Pico-Union, Temple-Beaudry, Virgil Village, Westlake.

Many families here speak Spanish at home. If that fits you, ask for a Spanish speaking agent when you call us. We do not promise a specific language, but we will tell you who is available.

Neighborhood pages for this area

These local pages cover places in or beside this station's area. Each one has its own notes for families.

Is bail posted at this station?

The station is where officers work from, not the usual place to post bail. Arrestees from this area are usually booked at the Metropolitan Detention Center, found at 180 N. Los Angeles St. in downtown Los Angeles, and a bond is usually posted there. We say usually because LAPD does not publish an area to jail table and it can send people elsewhere. Call to confirm before you leave.

Filing a complaint

If you think an officer acted wrongly, you can file a complaint. You can ask the station front desk or the watch commander to take one, and you can go to LAPD's Professional Standards Bureau through LAPD's website. You can also contact the Office of the Inspector General, which works with the Board of Police Commissioners, at (213) 893-6400 or through oig.lacity.org. Write down the date, time, place and any badge number or name. Keep any photos or messages. We do not give legal advice, and an attorney can tell you about deadlines.

Getting a phone, wallet or ID back

Most personal items go with the person to the jail and are given back at release. Evidence is held separately. The front desk can tell you whom to ask. Bring government photo ID when you go. For vehicles, ask the station which tow yard holds the car and when the yard is open.

Paying with 1% down

We offer 1% down on approved credit through Bail Today, Pay Later. You put down 1% of the bail amount and pay the rest of the premium monthly. The premium is 10% of the bail (the filed rate), or 8% when a private attorney is retained or the defendant or co-signer is a veteran. Never think of 1% as the whole price. The application takes about 4 minutes. The Bail Today, Pay Later page has details.

When you call us, it helps to have the person's full legal name, date of birth, the place and time of the arrest, and the booking number if you have one. If you do not have these, call anyway. We can often help you find out.

You can reach us 24 hours a day at (213) 725-2815. We are a private licensed bail agent, California Department of Insurance License #1843448. We are not part of LAPD or LASD. Our guide on what to do after an arrest is a good next read.

1% down is a down payment on approved credit, not the price of the bond. The premium is the rate on file with the California Department of Insurance, 10% of the bail amount, or 8% when a private attorney is retained or you or the defendant is a veteran. The balance goes on a payment plan.
