Harbor Gateway Bail Bonds, Answers First
Harbor Gateway is a long, narrow strip of Los Angeles, and that matters when someone is arrested here. Police coverage, jails and courts can differ from what you expect. We will help you sort it out, even at 3 in the morning.
Jane Un Bail Bonds is a licensed California bail agent, open 24 hours. Our Los Angeles office on Avila Street is downtown, but most of the work happens by phone and online, so the distance from Harbor Gateway does not slow us down. You can start with a name and a date of birth.

A narrow neighborhood with two stations nearby
Harbor Gateway runs along the Harbor Freeway between Gardena, Carson and Torrance, and it reaches south to San Pedro. LAPD lists it under the Harbor Area, with the station in San Pedro on John S. Gibson Boulevard. LAPD also lists Harbor Gateway on the Southeast Area page, so which station answers can depend on the block.
Check both. Our pages for the Harbor station and the Southeast station have addresses and front desk numbers. Ask the desk which officers took the report.
One more twist. Some streets around here belong to other cities, such as Gardena and Torrance, or to sheriff patrol areas. If one of those agencies made the arrest, the person is held somewhere else entirely. A call to 213-473-6100 for LAPD jails, or the LASD inmate locator, will tell you which system holds them.
Where is the booking jail
This is the honest part. LAPD does not publish a list that says which neighborhood goes to which jail. For Harbor Gateway we cannot tell you with confidence. People arrested here may be taken to the 77th Street Regional Jail, to the Metropolitan Detention Center downtown or to another facility, and LAPD can move them if medical clearance is needed.
So do not drive until you know. Start with the jail information line. Read about the 77th Street jail and the downtown MDC now so you know what each one is like.
Getting there by freeway or bus
The Harbor Freeway is the spine of the neighborhood, and it runs north to downtown. The Metro J Line busway uses the same freeway and has a stop at the Harbor Gateway Transit Center. Western Avenue and Normandie Avenue are the main north south streets if you are on surface roads.
Traffic on the 110 and the 405 can be heavy even late in the evening. Allow extra time, charge your phone and keep ID in your pocket.
How the payment plan works for this area
Plenty of Harbor Gateway families work near the ports, in warehouses or on shifts that do not stop. That is why we built Bail Today, Pay Later. You can apply online in about four minutes with our surety application.
Premium is 10% of bail, or 8% when a private attorney is retained or the defendant or co-signer is a veteran. On approved credit, 1% down starts the bond and the rest is paid monthly. On a $35,000 bail the premium at 10% is $3,500 and the first payment is $350.
Use the calculator for your own numbers.
Court dates and what to expect
We cannot say for sure which courthouse will hear a Harbor Gateway case, since it depends on the agency, the charge and where the person was booked. The papers at release should list the court and the date. The Los Angeles Superior Court website lets you look up a case by name or case number.
If the person might be out of the county on the court date, tell us and the attorney early. Judges treat a missed date seriously. Read our short guide on what happens if a date is missed.

What families here tell us
Many callers are parents of young adults, spouses of shift workers or neighbors who got a call from jail. A lot of them say they did not even know which station to call. That is normal.
The calls are often in Spanish. Ask for a Spanish speaking agent and we will work to connect you.
If the person in custody is pregnant, ask about our free bail for qualifying pregnant women, subject to approval. The woman must be 8 months or more, bail must be $50,000 or less on a non-violent charge, and a working co-signer must have proof of income. Details are on our pregnancy bail page.
1% down is a down payment on approved credit, not the price of the bond. The premium is the rate on file with the California Department of Insurance, 10% of the bail amount, or 8% when a private attorney is retained or you or the defendant is a veteran. The balance goes on a payment plan.
Questions people ask
Is Harbor Gateway part of the Harbor Area or the Southeast Area?
LAPD lists it under both. Call the station desk and ask which one handled the arrest, and use our pages for each.
Which jail will the person be in?
We cannot say for certain, because LAPD does not publish a neighborhood by neighborhood list. Call 213-473-6100 to confirm before you leave home.
What if Torrance or Gardena police arrested them?
Those city departments hold people in their own jails first, then transfer to county jail. We can still help, but you will need to call that city's department to locate them.
Can I apply without going downtown?
Yes. Most of the application can be done online or by phone, and we explain which steps need a signature.
How much do I pay tonight?
If approved, you may start with 1% down. The rest of the premium goes on a monthly plan.
