Wilmington Bail Bonds, Harbor Area
Wilmington is far from downtown, so a bail bond can feel hard to arrange from the Harbor. It does not have to be. Call us at (213) 725-2815 any hour and we will help you figure out where the person is held.
Here is how arrests in Wilmington usually go, why the booking location needs a quick confirmation, and how to start with 1% down on approved credit.

Harbor Division and the station in San Pedro
Wilmington is covered by the LAPD Harbor Division. The station is at 2175 John S. Gibson Blvd. in San Pedro and the phone is 310-726-7700. See the Harbor station page.
Avalon Boulevard, the Banning Residence Museum and Wilmington Waterfront Park are part of the area. So are the homes and shops near the port. ZIP 90744 covers most of it.
Wilmington has a long history as a working harbor town. Its streets follow the rhythm of the port, and the neighborhood has strong family ties. When a relative is arrested, many people pitch in, and we try to make that simple by working with one point of contact.
Where the booking happens needs a call
LAPD does not publish a simple table of which jail takes arrestees from which area, and for the Harbor it is less clear than for most. Some people end up downtown at the Metropolitan Detention Center, and some go elsewhere for medical clearance. Always call 213-473-6100 or the station and confirm before you travel.
Start with the guide to finding someone in jail. We can also look with you when you call. Do not drive an hour on a guess.
Other agencies work this area too
Wilmington sits next to Carson, Long Beach and the port. Port police, county deputies and other city police can arrest in nearby streets. If it was not LAPD, the person may be in a different jail. Ask the family who made the arrest. It helps us find the right place.
For county custody, the Inmate Reception Center is at 450 Bauchet St. downtown, and women are generally held at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, much closer to the Harbor.
The drive north
The 110 Harbor Freeway goes north to downtown from Wilmington. It is a long trip, and traffic can be heavy at shift change. Metro's J Line runs on the freeway busway. Give yourself extra time. Park on or near Los Angeles Street if the person is at MDC.
You do not have to make the trip to start. Use the 4 minute application from your phone.
If you are coming from the Harbor and have no car, plan the trip in advance. The J Line busway runs along the freeway and links to downtown. From there, a rideshare covers the last stretch to the jail, and the ride back with a released family member is easier than a long walk.
Port, shift and family work
Many Wilmington households depend on port, shipping and refinery jobs, and a job matters when you ask for a bond. Proof of income from a co-signer helps. Our co-signer guide tells you what to expect.
If your family prefers Spanish, ask for a Spanish speaking agent.
Bail Today, Pay Later
With Bail Today, Pay Later you start with 1% of the bail down on approved credit. Premium runs 10% of the bail, the filed rate, and drops to 8% if a private attorney is retained or a veteran is the defendant or co-signer. The remainder is on monthly payments.

What to have ready when you call
When you call from Wilmington, have a few things on hand so we can move quickly. The person's full legal name and birth date. The booking number if you have it. The charge, if you know it. The jail or station name. Your own phone number and the name of someone willing to co-sign.
A co-signer is the person who promises the court that the defendant will return. Pick someone with steady work or income, since the application looks at that. If you have no one local, a relative elsewhere may sign electronically.
If you do not know the bail amount, we help you find it. Many times the amount is posted online within hours of booking. Sometimes it takes longer. We never ask you to guess.
Premium runs 10% of the bail, the filed rate, and drops to 8% if a private attorney is retained or a veteran is the defendant or co-signer. You can start with 1% of the bail down on approved credit and pay the rest in monthly parts. Read our page on 1% down versus 10% bail for a plain comparison.
If the person is a woman who is pregnant, read about our community program for qualifying pregnant women. Subject to approval, the premium may be waived.
1% down is a down payment on approved credit, not the price of the bond. The premium is the rate on file with the California Department of Insurance, 10% of the bail amount, or 8% when a private attorney is retained or you or the defendant is a veteran. The balance goes on a payment plan.
