Westchester Bail Bonds Near LAX

Westchester is the neighborhood under the flight path, with LAX on one side and Loyola Marymount on the other. An arrest here can involve the city, the airport police or a different jurisdiction altogether, so the first job is working out who has your person.

I am Jane Un, a licensed California bail agent, and we answer around the clock. We can help you figure out the right jail and then get a bond moving.

Pacific Area, or the airport

Most of Westchester is covered by the LAPD Pacific Area. The station is on Culver Boulevard, a short drive from Sepulveda Boulevard. See our Pacific station page for the address and phone number.

The airport is its own story. Los Angeles International Airport is policed by an airport police division, not by the neighborhood station. If your family member was arrested at a terminal, parking structure or on airport property, call the jail information line at 213-473-6100 and ask where they are held. The answer may differ from what you expect.

Where Pacific arrests usually go

LAPD does not publish a neighborhood by neighborhood booking list. We say usually, and the usual answer for West Bureau arrests is the Metropolitan Detention Center downtown. A Pacific station can hold people briefly and may transfer them later, so check before you leave home.

The MDC page has the downtown address and what to bring.

From Sepulveda to Los Angeles Street

From Westchester, the 405 north to the 10 east or the 105 east to the 110 north both lead downtown. Midday traffic can be heavy, and the 405 is notorious at night during closures. Allow at least 45 minutes and maybe an hour.

The Metro K Line runs near the airport and connects to the C Line, which links to other lines to downtown. It takes planning, but works if you do not drive. Rideshare is another option, and the pickup areas near LAX can be confusing, so ask the driver to meet you at a street corner.

Parking near the downtown jail fills up. Use the paid lots near Los Angeles Street.

Students, travelers and neighbors

Westchester families are a mix of long time homeowners, airport employees, hotel workers, students at LMU and people passing through. If your relative was visiting and was arrested here, you may live in another state. That is not a problem. We can talk by phone, and a cosigner does not have to live in Los Angeles in every case, although it helps. Ask us what we can do.

If the person is a student, the school may need to be told. A lawyer can advise what to say, and when.

Anyone out of state should read about how bail works in Los Angeles before the first call.

If you live far away

Calls from parents in other states are common in this part of town because of the airport and the university. You may be sitting in a kitchen thousands of miles away reading this on a phone. Here is how it can work.

  • A local friend or relative can visit the jail and bring ID.
  • You can speak with us by phone and review the paperwork online.
  • The cosigner needs documents showing income and identity.
  • The person in custody needs a plan for getting to every court date.

Be careful about wiring money to anyone you have not verified. A real bail agent is licensed in California and gives you written paperwork. Ours is CDI License #1843448.

Anyone planning to fly in should check the court date first. If the person leaves California without permission while a case is open, the court can treat it as a missed appearance.

Cost, and how to pay

Premium is 10% of bail, or 8% when a private attorney is retained or the defendant or co-signer is a veteran. We never call 1% the price. With approved credit, 1% down starts the bond and the rest is paid monthly. On a $40,000 bail, the premium at 10% is $4,000 and the first payment is $400.

Use our calculator, then start the application if you want to go ahead.

Court near the airport

Pacific Area cases may be heard at the Airport Courthouse on La Cienega Boulevard, though cases that start with a downtown booking may be set downtown. The date on the release papers is the one to trust, and if the paper says otherwise, call the clerk.

If you need legal help, see our resources directory. A qualifying pregnant woman, 8 months or more along, with bail of $50,000 or less on a non-violent charge and a working co-signer with proof of income, may be eligible for free bail, subject to approval. See that page.

1% down is a down payment on approved credit, not the price of the bond. The premium is the rate on file with the California Department of Insurance, 10% of the bail amount, or 8% when a private attorney is retained or you or the defendant is a veteran. The balance goes on a payment plan.

Questions people ask

Is the Pacific station in Westchester?

What if the arrest was at LAX?

Airport police handle arrests on airport property. Call 213-473-6100 and the LASD locator to find where the person is held.

Sometimes. It depends on approval, so call us and tell us where they live.

How long will release take?

We cannot promise a time. Jail processing varies, and we keep working until the paperwork is filed.
