West Los Angeles Bail Bonds Near the 405
West Los Angeles is the area around Wilshire Boulevard, Santa Monica Boulevard and Sepulveda Boulevard, with Sawtelle, the VA campus and the 405 and 10 freeways nearby. If you are calling about an arrest here, the good news is that the LAPD station is right in your neighborhood.
I am Jane Un, a licensed California bail agent. We are open 24 hours. A parent, a spouse, a friend or an attorney can call for the person in custody, and the first call is free.

The station on Butler Avenue
West Los Angeles is the home of the LAPD West Los Angeles Area, and the station is on Butler Avenue, near Olympic and the 405. See our West Los Angeles station page for the address and phone number.
The station covers a big area, from Brentwood to Century City to Westwood. Booking can start there, but people are usually moved on. For West Bureau arrests, that usually means the Metropolitan Detention Center downtown. LAPD can move people, so check with 213-473-6100 first.
Sawtelle, the VA and the long ride downtown
Sawtelle, with its Japanese gardens and restaurants, the large VA campus and the busy corridors of Santa Monica Boulevard and Wilshire Boulevard make up much of the area. Veterans and military families live here, and that matters for bail.
The ride to the downtown jail is straightforward but slow. The 10 Freeway east is the usual route, and Venice and Olympic boulevards are options when it jams. Expect 30 to 45 minutes at night and an hour or more at rush hour. The Metro E Line stops nearby and runs to downtown.
Our MDC page explains where to park and what to bring.
Veterans and the 8% rate
When the defendant or the co-signer is a veteran, our premium drops from 10% to 8% of the bail. Tell us at the start. We may ask for proof, such as a discharge paper or a veteran ID.
| Bail | Premium at 10% | Premium at 8% |
|---|---|---|
| $25,000 | $2,500 | $2,000 |
| $80,000 | $8,000 | $6,400 |
We never call 1% the price. With approved credit, 1% down starts the bond and a monthly plan covers the rest. See Bail Today, Pay Later and the calculator.
What an arrest looks like along these corridors
West Los Angeles is crossed by long, busy streets. Santa Monica Boulevard, Wilshire Boulevard, Sepulveda Boulevard, Olympic Boulevard and Pico Boulevard all carry traffic late. The 405 and the 10 meet nearby, so a lot of drivers who are not from the neighborhood pass through. Many calls to us start with a traffic stop that turned into something bigger, such as a driving after drinking charge or a license problem.
Others begin at home, after a family argument or a party. Some begin at a store, a restaurant or a campus nearby. We hear every kind of story, and we do not judge any of them.
Charges matter for bail. A first time misdemeanor often carries a smaller bail than a felony, and some people are released on their own promise to appear. If a hold from another county or agency shows up, a bond may not be enough to release the person. Ask the jail line about holds and warrants. If there is one, we will tell you what we can about it.
The earlier you call, the more time we have to work through each of these. If you are not sure, call anyway.
Students, workers and neighbors
West Los Angeles is next to UCLA and Westwood, Santa Monica and Brentwood, so we hear from students, young workers and long time residents. Sometimes a parent far away makes the call. That works. We can talk by phone, and you can review the paperwork online.
If the person is a student, a lawyer should say what to tell the school. If the person is a nurse, teacher or other licensed worker, a lawyer should say what to tell the employer or the board. A bond is only the first step.
If the arrest was by the Santa Monica police or the university police, the person may be held somewhere else. Ask the jail line and the arresting agency.
Court, and when a date is unclear
We cannot name a single courthouse for West Los Angeles cases. The release papers list the court and date, and the Los Angeles Superior Court website lets you check. If the paper is unclear, call the clerk.
The person must go to every date. If anything gets in the way, call the lawyer and us first. Our missed court date guide explains why this matters.

Pregnancy and the online application
Qualifying pregnant women, 8 months or more along, with bail of $50,000 or less on a non-violent charge and a working co-signer with proof of income, may be eligible for free bail with the premium waived, subject to approval. See the pregnancy page.
To begin, use the online application. It takes about 4 minutes and does not ask for a Social Security number online.
1% down is a down payment on approved credit, not the price of the bond. The premium is the rate on file with the California Department of Insurance, 10% of the bail amount, or 8% when a private attorney is retained or you or the defendant is a veteran. The balance goes on a payment plan.
