Southeast Division on 108th Street

Watts is served by the LAPD Southeast Division. The station is at 145 West 108th Street, a short distance from Watts Towers and the 103rd Street Station. Southeast patrols Watts and the surrounding blocks, including the housing communities near Jordan Downs and Will Rogers Memorial Park.

Arrests there usually go on to the 77th Street Regional Jail at 7600 South Broadway, though LAPD can move people. Per NBC LA in October 2026, that jail has no medical staff until January 4, 2027, so some people who need medical care go downtown or to Van Nuys. Always call to confirm. See the Southeast station page and the 77th Street jail page.

Roads and rails

From Watts, the 105 and 110 Freeways meet near the neighborhood, and Central Avenue and Avalon Boulevard run north to the 77th Street jail. The drive is usually under fifteen minutes at night. The A Line stops at the Watts Towers Station on 103rd Street, and Metro buses cover the rest.

If your person is moved to the MDC downtown, take the 110 north or the A Line, then walk from the Civic Center area. Parking there is limited. Plan ahead.

Watts Towers, parks and daily life

Watts is a neighborhood with deep roots. Watts Towers is a world known landmark, and Will Rogers Memorial Park and the Watts Station are part of daily life for many families. Calls we get from families here tend to come from parents, aunts, grandmothers and young adults who are trying to do right by someone they love.

We treat every family with plain respect. We do not judge the person or the charge. We explain the bail amount, the premium, the co-signer role and the court steps, in short sentences. Read what to do after an arrest.

What 1% down means

The premium is 10% of the bail on our filed rate. With a private attorney, or a veteran defendant or co-signer, it is 8%. You start with 1% down on approved credit, and pay the rest monthly.

  • On $10,000 bail, the premium is $1,000 and 1% down is $100.
  • On $50,000 bail, the premium is $5,000 and 1% down is $500.

Use the calculator to see your own case. Read 1% down versus 10% bail for a clear side-by-side.

Pregnant women and Century Regional

The county's women's jail, Century Regional Detention Facility, is in Lynwood, just a few miles from Watts. If a woman from your family is pregnant and in custody, tell us right away. Qualifying pregnant women, eight months or more, with a non-violent charge, bail of $50,000 or less and a working co-signer with proof of income, may get free bail, premium waived, subject to approval. If you do not qualify, ask anyway. We are often able to help.

See the program page and pregnant in jail.

Co-signers, work and language

A co-signer needs ID and proof of income. Many co-signers in Watts work in shifts, warehouses, schools, health care and the airport area. Call us if your pay is irregular. We will tell you what may be accepted. Read co-signer responsibilities. Spanish speakers can ask for a Spanish speaking agent.

Free legal help, including public defenders, is in our resources directory. You can start online at /apply/, which takes about four minutes with no Social Security number typed online.

Courts and court dates

The court depends on the charge and where the arrest happened. South Los Angeles cases may be heard in South Bureau courthouses or downtown. Check the release papers for the court, department and date. If you cannot read them, send us a photo.

Never miss a date. Read missed court dates. We also serve Green Meadows. If your person is held after arraignment, use the inmate locator or call 213-473-6100 to see where they are now.

Most families say the same thing. They did not know where the person was. They did not know the bail amount. They did not know what a bond meant. So we start there. We find the person, we state the number, and we explain the promise to the court in plain words. Then you choose.

Nothing about a bond should feel rushed. Ask questions. Read before you sign. Keep your copy. The bond is a tool to bring your person home while the case moves, and we want you to feel steady using it.

1% down is a down payment on approved credit, not the price of the bond. The premium is the rate on file with the California Department of Insurance, 10% of the bail amount, or 8% when a private attorney is retained or you or the defendant is a veteran. The balance goes on a payment plan.
