Tujunga Bail Bonds

Tujunga is tucked against the San Gabriel foothills, a long way from the downtown jails. If someone from here was arrested, the distance alone can feel like a wall. Jane Un Bail Bonds is a licensed California bail agent, open 24 hours at (213) 725-2815, and we can bring the process to you by phone.

Tujunga covers ZIP 91042, with Foothill Boulevard, the Tujunga Wash and the Verdugo Hills as local landmarks. It is next to Sunland and Shadow Hills, and it feels more like a small town than a city neighborhood.

This page covers the station, the jail, the court and the cost.

The Foothill station in Pacoima

Tujunga is in LAPD's Foothill Area. The station is at 12760 Osborne Street, Pacoima, CA 91331, and the front desk number is 818-756-8861. It also serves Sunland, Shadow Hills, Sun Valley and Lake View Terrace, which makes it one of the larger areas in the Valley.

See our Foothill station page. The Osborne Street station is about a 15 to 25 minute drive from Tujunga, by the 210 and the 5 or by Foothill Boulevard.

If the desk is closed to walk ins or the line is busy, the county locator is still the first stop to try. It shows the booking number, the charge, the bail and the holding facility.

Where the person is usually held

Valley arrests usually go to the Valley Jail Section at 6240 Sylmar Ave., Van Nuys. LAPD can move people for medical clearance, so confirm. Our Valley Jail page lists the jail phone, 818-374-9645, and the visiting hours.

From Tujunga, Van Nuys is a long drive. Expect about 30 to 45 minutes at night, and more in rush hour. Most families go by the 210 and then the 5 or the 170, depending on traffic.

Check app5.lasd.org/iic or call 213-473-6100 before you drive.

Bring a jacket if you wait for a release. Foothill nights can be cold, and release paperwork can take hours after a bond is posted. We cannot promise a time, since the jail sets it.

Foothill life and the arrests that come with it

Tujunga has trails, a wash and open hillsides, and long stretches of road with little lighting. People are sometimes arrested for a DUI on the road home, a dispute in a driveway, or a fight at a gathering. In fire season, closed roads and evacuation orders can also complicate how a family reaches a jail or an office.

If you cannot leave the area, tell us. Most steps can be done by phone and online, and a co-signer can sign from home.

Ask the jail whether your person needs medication or a medical check. If they do, tell the staff and tell us so we can note it on the file.

The court

Valley cases are commonly heard at the Van Nuys Courthouse East at 6230 Sylmar Ave., next door to the jail. Confirm with the paperwork. If the case is filed in another court, the paperwork will say so.

Plan a long trip for court day. Leave early, bring your notice and photo ID, and allow time for parking and security. Our guide on what to do after an arrest covers the first two days.

If the person is arraigned without a lawyer, ask for the public defender. The judge usually asks about it at the first appearance. Our resources directory lists legal aid and court self help.

Cost, down payment and the monthly plan

The premium is 10% of the bail, the filed rate, or 8% with a private attorney or a veteran defendant or co-signer. With 1% down on approved credit, the first payment is small and the rest is a monthly plan under Bail Today, Pay Later.

If bail is $18,000, that is $180 down against a $1,800 premium at 10%. If bail is $55,000, that is $550 down against a $5,500 premium. Approval is required, and 1% is not the price.

The calculator takes any figure, and the online application takes about 4 minutes.

Larger bonds can need more review, and sometimes collateral such as a vehicle title or a home. If you are not sure what you can offer, call and talk it through before you apply.

Rural feel, same rules

Some families here have lived in the foothills for generations. They are used to handling things themselves, and asking for help can feel hard. A bond is not charity, and it is not a favor. It is a service, and you are paying for it on a plan.

If the person who was arrested is the household's driver, plan for rides to work and court. Public transit in the foothills is limited.

Small communities talk. We keep your information private, and we do not contact anyone you do not ask us to.

Neighbors

If the arrest was in Sunland or Shadow Hills, the same station and jail usually apply. Our Foothill station page and the Valley Jail page cover both. Lake View Terrace and Sun Valley are served by the same station too.

Tell us if you are unsure which area the arrest happened in. The foothill edge of Los Angeles touches other cities and county areas, and we will help you sort out which jail applies.

1% down is a down payment on approved credit, not the price of the bond. The premium is the rate on file with the California Department of Insurance, 10% of the bail amount, or 8% when a private attorney is retained or you or the defendant is a veteran. The balance goes on a payment plan.
