Larchmont Village Bail Bonds, Day or Night

Larchmont feels like a small town inside Los Angeles, which makes a late night arrest feel even more unreal. If you are reading this because a neighbor, a son or a friend is in custody, here is what to do next.

We are Jane Un Bail Bonds, a licensed California bail agent, and we pick up the phone 24 hours a day. You can call, text the details you have and ask anything. Below, we cover how arrests on and around Larchmont Boulevard and Beverly Boulevard are usually handled.

Step one is finding where the person is

Larchmont is served by the LAPD Wilshire Area, even though the shops and cafes along Larchmont Boulevard sit close to Hollywood. The station is on Venice Boulevard, and you can find its details on our Wilshire station page.

Do not assume the person is still at the station. Many are driven to the Metropolitan Detention Center downtown for booking. Because LAPD can move people between facilities, call the jail information line at 213-473-6100 or search the LASD inmate locator at app5.lasd.org/iic. Our guide on finding someone in jail in Los Angeles shows what to type.

Short trips and long nights

From Larchmont Village, downtown is a straight shot east. Beverly Boulevard and Third Street lead toward the Harbor and Hollywood freeways. The jail area on Los Angeles Street is usually 20 to 40 minutes away by car outside rush hour, and longer when traffic is heavy.

Do not try to rush. Posting a bond is done by the bail agent, so you do not need to be inside the jail at 3 AM with an envelope of cash. We can handle most of the process by phone and online.

How we keep the first payment manageable

Bail is a big number and most families do not have it in a drawer. A bond lets you pay a premium instead. Ours is 10% of the bail, or 8% when a private attorney is retained or the defendant or co-signer is a veteran.

  • 1% down on approved credit starts the bond.
  • The remaining premium goes on a monthly plan.
  • The co-signer signs once the application is approved.

This is the Bail Today, Pay Later plan. On a $20,000 bail, the premium at 10% is $2,000 and the down payment is $200. We do not promise approval, but applying costs nothing.

A neighborhood of small streets and busy edges

Larchmont itself is calm, but its borders are not. Beverly Boulevard, Melrose Avenue and Western Avenue run all night, and a lot of arrests start there with a traffic stop or a late dispute. Others start far from home and the family only learns by phone.

It does not matter where the arrest took place. What matters is where the person is held and what the charge is. Misdemeanors often have lower bail than felonies, but not always. If you want a quick sense of ranges, see how much bail is in California.

Bring this information to your first call

You do not need every detail, but these make things faster. Write them on paper if your hands are shaking.

  1. The person's full legal name and date of birth.
  2. Where they are being held, if you know.
  3. The booking number, if the jail gave one.
  4. Your own name, phone number and relationship to the person.
  5. Whether a private attorney has been hired, because that can lower the premium to 8%.

If you only have a name, call us anyway. We have helped families who started with nothing but a first name and a street corner. Be careful not to guess at charges. Jails can add or change them during booking, and what you hear from a friend at midnight may not be the final charge.

After we talk, we will tell you what the next step is, what documents the co-signer needs and what the first payment looks like. There is no pressure and no charge for the conversation.

After release, the court dates

People booked downtown usually appear at the Central Arraignment Courthouse on Bauchet Street, with felony cases continuing at the Foltz Criminal Justice Center on Temple Street. The papers handed to the person at release list the date, and the court website can confirm it.

It helps to put every date in a phone calendar the same day. If a date gets missed, call us before anything else and read about missed court dates.

Pregnant in custody

For a qualifying pregnant woman who is at least 8 months along, with bail of $50,000 or less and a non-violent charge, our program may waive the premium, free bail subject to approval. A working co-signer with proof of income is needed. If she does not qualify, ask anyway, we are often able to help. More at free bail for pregnant women.

1% down is a down payment on approved credit, not the price of the bond. The premium is the rate on file with the California Department of Insurance, 10% of the bail amount, or 8% when a private attorney is retained or you or the defendant is a veteran. The balance goes on a payment plan.

Questions people ask

Is Larchmont part of Hollywood for bail purposes?

No. Police coverage here is the LAPD Wilshire Area. The nearby Hollywood station covers a different set of neighborhoods.

Can I start the application from my phone?

Yes. The online application at /apply/ takes about 4 minutes and does not ask for your Social Security number.

What happens if the person is moved to county jail?

Sometimes people move to the county system after booking. Call 213-473-6100 or check the LASD locator, and tell us. A bond can still be posted.

Does the co-signer owe the whole bail?

The co-signer is responsible for making sure the person returns to court. Costs can arise if they do not. Read our co-signer guide before signing.

Can a neighbor help if I cannot reach family?

A friend or neighbor can call us, but the co-signer has to be someone we can approve, with the right documents.
