Inmate Reception Center (IRC)

How Do I Send Money to Someone at the Inmate Reception Center (IRC)?

Since July 28, 2025, LASD takes deposits online through Access Corrections at accesscorrections.com, on its free app, or by phone at 866-345-1884. You can also bring government photo ID to the IRC at 450 Bauchet St. Mailed money orders and cashier's checks are accepted with the booking number on them.

What is the easiest way to deposit money at the IRC?

LASD now receives deposits through Access Corrections, a contracted vendor. You have three choices.

  • Go to accesscorrections.com
  • Use the free mobile app
  • Call 866-345-1884 and talk to a live bilingual agent

LASD says you need a valid residential address to make a deposit. P.O. boxes are not accepted for depositors. Have the person's full name and booking number ready, since the money is tied to the booking number and not just the name. If you do not have the number, see our page on finding someone at the IRC.

LASD does not publish the vendor's fees or per deposit limits, so check the amount on screen before you pay.

Can I put money on the books in person at the IRC?

Yes, with limits. LASD says to bring government photo ID to the IRC at 450 Bauchet St. to pick up or deposit. The cashier's office phone is (213) 473-6049, and the men's deposit questions line is (213) 893-5875. Hours were not stated on the LASD page, so call before you drive.

There is also a cash kiosk, but LASD says it is only at the Pitchess Detention Center Visiting Center in Castaic, and only during visiting hours. LASD lists no lobby kiosk at the downtown jails, so do not count on one at the IRC.

How do I mail money to the IRC?

LASD accepts a certified California bank cashier's check or a U.S. Postal money order. Out of state senders can use U.S. Postal money orders only. Make it payable to the inmate's name and booking number. Men's deposits go to LASD, P.O. Box 86164 Terminal Annex, Los Angeles, CA 90086-0164, with the inmate name and booking number on the line below. Women's deposits go to the Century Regional Detention Facility address, 11705 S. Alameda St., Lynwood, CA 90262.

Mail moves slowly, and a rejected envelope is returned, so online is usually quicker for a family in a hurry. LASD lists a maximum on mailed deposits, but its own pages give two different figures. Check the LASD custody page for the current number before you mail anything. Never send cash or a personal check, because mail with those gets rejected.

What does money on the books pay for at the IRC?

Money on the books is for the person's use while in custody. Commissary and care packages are sold by independent vendors, not LASD. LASD links to the Access Catalog for them. Prepaid phone cards cannot be mailed in. If you want to know how your loved one calls out, read our page on IRC phone calls.

Money is not the same as bail. A deposit does not release anyone. Bail is a separate payment that gets someone out of custody.

What happens to the money after release?

The person can get account money back after release. LASD says trust accounts are purged about 30 days after release, so do not wait. Read our page on getting money and property back for the steps.

If bail is set and your family needs help with it, you can start with 1% of the bail amount down on approved credit. The premium is set by our filed rate, and the rest goes on a payment plan. Read how 1% down works or start an application. We are a licensed private bail agent, not part of LASD.

1% down is a down payment on approved credit, not the price of the bond. The premium is the rate on file with the California Department of Insurance, 10% of the bail amount, or 8% when a private attorney is retained or you or the defendant is a veteran. The balance goes on a payment plan.
