Westside, Los Angeles
Mar Vista Bail Bonds, Venice Boulevard to Centinela
Mar Vista is a laid back Westside neighborhood, which makes an arrest here feel even more out of place. If someone you love was taken in, call Jane Un Bail Bonds at (213) 725-2815. We are a licensed California bail agent, CDI License #1843448, and we answer day and night.
The neighborhood runs along Venice Boulevard and Centinela Avenue, with Mar Vista Park at its heart and Culver Boulevard crossing the south end. Its ZIP code is 90066. Del Rey, Palms, Rancho Park, Sawtelle and Venice all touch it, and the 405 and the 90 freeway are close.
Because the Westside is far from downtown, the drive is a bigger part of this story than in most places.

The Pacific Area and its station
Mar Vista is covered by the LAPD Pacific Area. The station is on Culver Boulevard, and the front desk number is 310-482-6334. Our Pacific station page has the address and what to bring.
Mar Vista has a mix of older bungalows, new apartment buildings and busy shopping streets. Arrests here often start with traffic stops on Venice Boulevard or Centinela Avenue, noise or party calls in the evening, and disputes in parking lots. Cyclists and walkers fill the sidewalks by day, and the area empties out late at night. Whatever started it, the steps ahead are the same.
Pacific is a large Area that reaches from Venice to Playa Vista and the airport. An arrest on a Mar Vista street usually starts with a Pacific patrol car. The station is the first stop for paperwork. After that, the person is usually taken to a booking jail, and we explain which below.
Where Pacific arrestees usually go
LAPD does not publish a list that says which station sends people to which jail. Our understanding is that Pacific arrestees are usually booked at the Metropolitan Detention Center in downtown Los Angeles, though LAPD can choose another jail for medical clearance or space. Always call to confirm.
The downtown jail page lists the address and visiting hours. Bail can be posted around the clock. The inmate line, 213-473-6100, will tell you whether the person has arrived yet.
The long drive east
From Mar Vista to the downtown jail, take the 405 north to the 10 east, or Venice Boulevard east to the 110. At 2 AM the trip is manageable. At any busy hour, the 405 and the 10 can be painfully slow, and it is easy to underestimate the time.
If you do not want to make that drive in the middle of the night, you do not have to. Much of the paperwork can start online. Our application takes about four minutes and asks for no Social Security number online. An agent then calls you to finish.
What the 1% down plan looks like for a Westside budget
Westside rents are high, and most families here feel it. A bond fee is called the premium. It is 10% of bail at the filed rate, or 8% if a private attorney is retained or the defendant or co-signer is a veteran. Bail Today, Pay Later lets you start with 1% down on approved credit, then pay the balance monthly.
For a $25,000 bail, the premium is $2,500 and the 1% down payment is $250. On a $60,000 bail, the premium is $6,000 and the down payment is $600. Approval is required. We show the full total first. Try the bail calculator for your own amount.
The courthouse question
Pacific Area cases are often heard at the Airport Courthouse on La Cienega Boulevard, which is a shorter drive than downtown for Mar Vista families. A booking downtown can instead lead to the Central Arraignment Courthouse on Bauchet Street. The release paperwork lists the right place, so read it twice.
A first appearance is often short, only a few minutes in front of a judge, but the day can be long. There is a security line, a crowded hallway and a wait to be called. Eat first, silence your phone and bring a folder with every paper you have.
Check parking and security rules before you go. If the defendant has a job with a strict schedule, ask for the time off in writing as soon as you know the date.
Neighbors, renters and roommates
The Westside also has a lot of people who work in tech, media and the arts, with paychecks that do not look like a nine to five job. If your income is irregular, bring what you have, such as bank deposits, invoices or a letter from a regular client. We will tell you what counts, and what else might help.
Many Mar Vista residents rent, share apartments or live in duplexes and small buildings. A roommate or neighbor may be the first to learn about an arrest, and a landlord might ask questions. Tell as few people as you need to and keep the paperwork private. Court dates are public, but your finances are not.
If you are the co-signer, you promise the defendant will come to every court date. If they miss one, you could owe the full bail amount. Read the co-signer guide before you decide. We would rather you take an extra ten minutes than regret a quick yes.
1% down is a down payment on approved credit, not the price of the bond. The premium is the rate on file with the California Department of Insurance, 10% of the bail amount, or 8% when a private attorney is retained or you or the defendant is a veteran. The balance goes on a payment plan.
