Mission Division covers Arleta
Arleta is served by the LAPD Mission Division. The station is at 11121 North Sepulveda Boulevard in Mission Hills, a few miles west of Arleta. Arrests along Van Nuys Boulevard, Osborne Street and near Arleta Park usually begin with a Mission patrol car.
Valley arrests are usually booked at the Valley Jail Section on Sylmar Avenue in Van Nuys. LAPD can move people, especially if a medical check is needed, so call to confirm. See the Mission station page and the Valley Jail page.
Driving from Arleta to Van Nuys
From Van Nuys Boulevard, go south through Panorama City toward Van Nuys. Most trips take fifteen to twenty-five minutes. At night you can take the 118 or Roscoe Boulevard west and then Sepulveda south. During rush hour, the 5 and the 405 back up fast, so choose surface streets.
The jail at 6240 Sylmar Avenue shares a block with the Van Nuys courthouse, and parking is limited on weekdays. Expect a short walk from a lot. If you do not drive, Metro buses run along Van Nuys Boulevard and Roscoe Boulevard, but they thin out late at night.
Visiting and bail at the Valley Jail
LAPD says bail can be posted at its jails 24 hours a day. The Valley Jail visiting hours are Monday through Friday from 9:30 in the morning to noon and from 1 to 2:30 in the afternoon, and weekends and holidays from 8 to noon. One family visit is allowed per day. Rules can change, so call 818-374-9645 first.
Do not bring anything the jail will not accept, like bags or phones. Bring your ID. Bail agents and attorneys may visit at any time, and we handle the paperwork so you do not have to stand at a window yourself. Our after-an-arrest guide has more.
Cost on common bail amounts
The premium is 10% of the bail on our filed rate. If a private attorney is hired or the defendant or co-signer is a veteran, it is 8%. With 1% down on approved credit, the balance goes on a monthly plan.
- On $7,500 bail, the premium is $750 and 1% down is $75.
- On $20,000 bail, the premium is $2,000 and 1% down is $200.
- On $60,000 bail, the premium is $6,000 and 1% down is $600.

Spanish help and work schedules
Many Arleta families speak Spanish at home. Ask for a Spanish speaking agent, and we will try to connect you. Many co-signers here work early shifts in warehouses, hospitals and construction, so we are glad to do the paperwork by phone and online at odd hours. You can start at /apply/, which takes about four minutes with no Social Security number typed online.
A co-signer needs ID and proof of income. If you are not sure what counts, call. Our guide to co-signer responsibilities explains the promise in plain words.
The Van Nuys courthouse
Valley cases are usually heard at Van Nuys Courthouse East, 6230 Sylmar Avenue, right next to the jail. Check your release papers for the department and the date, and arrive early. Security lines can be long on Monday mornings.
If you miss a date, call us before the court does. Read what happens if a court date is missed. Free help is listed in our resources directory.
Nearby and special programs
We also help families in Pacoima and Panorama City. Women held by the sheriff are usually in Lynwood at the Century Regional Detention Facility, and a qualifying pregnant woman may get free bail, premium waived, subject to approval. Terms are on our pregnancy program page. If you do not think you qualify, ask us anyway.
One last thought for Valley families. Arleta is a neighborhood of small homes, family gatherings and neighbors who look out for each other. If this is a first arrest, take a breath. We have seen many families get through it, and we will help you do the same.
Keep every receipt and every piece of paper. When the case ends, the bond ends, and the paperwork lets us close the file cleanly. Ask us any time what a form means.
If you want to talk it over in person, our Los Angeles office at 900 Avila St, Suite 101, is open at all hours. But the drive from Arleta is long, and you do not need it. The phone and the online application do the same job.
1% down is a down payment on approved credit, not the price of the bond. The premium is the rate on file with the California Department of Insurance, 10% of the bail amount, or 8% when a private attorney is retained or you or the defendant is a veteran. The balance goes on a payment plan.
