What happens after a Hollywood Station arrest?

Hollywood Station is at 1358 N. Wilcox Ave. in LAPD's West Bureau. Its area covers Hollywood, East Hollywood, Los Feliz, Hollywood Hills, Little Armenia, Thai Town, the Melrose District, the Sunset Strip and Cahuenga Pass. Some of the people arrested here do not live nearby, and their families may be far away.

If you are that family member, start with the basics. The officers take the person to a jail, they are booked, and they get phone calls. LAPD says at least three completed calls must be allowed, no later than three hours after the arrest. A bail agent is one of the people they may call.

Is the Hollywood Station arrestee taken to MDC?

Usually, yes. The Metropolitan Detention Center at 180 N. Los Angeles St. in downtown Los Angeles takes most Hollywood arrests. It is a drive from Wilcox Ave., and LAPD can send a person to a different jail, so call (213) 356-3400 first. The county line at (213) 473-6100 also tells you where a person is held.

Do not worry if the person is not in the system yet. Records do not show a new booking for about 2 hours.

Can bail be posted for someone arrested in Hollywood on a weekend?

Yes, LAPD jails take bail 24 hours a day, every day. They accept cash, a valid surety bond, a cashier's check to the Los Angeles Police Department's Bail Account and certain money orders. A weekend does not close the bail window. It can matter for court, though.

The court's schedule says arraignment typically occurs within 48 hours unless there is a holiday or a weekend. That means someone arrested on a Friday night may wait longer for a judge than someone arrested on a Tuesday. If bail is set, you can still act. See how bail is set at the MDC and what happens after bail is posted at the MDC.

What can the Hollywood Station family ask for before arraignment?

Before arraignment, some people are released with no money. LAPD and the court use a protocol called PARP. Lower level offenses can end in release on a promise to appear, and others go to a magistrate. Serious charges need money bail or a hold. The jail will tell you which one applies. Learn how this works in our guide to pre-arraignment release.

You can also ask for a lower amount. An attorney, friend or family member can call the court's Pre-Arraignment Support Unit at (213) 633-6350, but only within two hours of booking. Police can ask to raise bail in the same window.

When does a Hollywood Station arrest end up at county jail?

After arraignment. LAPD says people still in custody are remanded to the Sheriff's Department. Men are usually processed at the Inmate Reception Center. Women are held at Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood. LASD does not notify families about a move, so call (213) 473-6100.

If you want to talk about a bond, we are at (213) 725-2815, or you can read the 1% down option on approved credit. More about the area is on the Hollywood Station page.

1% down is a down payment on approved credit, not the price of the bond. The premium is the rate on file with the California Department of Insurance, 10% of the bail amount, or 8% when a private attorney is retained or you or the defendant is a veteran. The balance goes on a payment plan.
